Summer programming can be a slippery slope. If you want to take the chance of having your brain cells leap to their deaths from that ledge inside your mind, hideously screaming all the way down, all you need do is tune into FOX’s ‘The Choice.’ I urge you: Just say no.
There was good news for ‘Community’ fans last week, as the show hit season highs in the ratings. And there was bad news for ‘Luck’ fans, as the previously renewed second season was abruptly canceled. HBO giveth, and HBO taketh away.
Premieres for ‘GCB’ and ‘Breaking In’ came in at somewhat less than ABC and FOX might have been hoping for, falling well short of a repeat ‘Big Bang’ on CBS. Over on cable, the premiere of “Breakout Kings’ did nothing to slow down the ‘Walking Dead’ juggernaut.
Our regularly scheduled programming was interrupted this week by the ‘Academy Awards’, the surprise prime-time appearance of the ‘Daytona 500′, and a triple shot of ‘Idol’. That brought a few unexpected drops to the numbers. On cable, ‘The Walking Dead’ continues to rule.
The big news on the networks was ‘American Idol’ falling to third place in viewers and the demo. Over on cable, the premiere of ‘Eastbound & Down’ could do nothing to stop the freight train that is AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’.
The big news on the broadcast networks last week was the huge ratings for the ‘Grammy Awards’. The death of Whitney Houston brought viewer levels the show hadn’t seen since the ’80s. Over on cable, the amazing run of ‘The Walking Dead’ just keeps going. The latest premiere finished even higher than the last one.
I would have guessed that the next proposal on ‘How I Met Your Mother’ would have been Barney. Man, did I call that wrong!
