It’s a dark day for fans of ‘Community’ as the new NBC mid-season schedule has the show being bumped into the neverland of ‘returning at some point’. On cable, AMC has found a partner for ‘The Walking Dead’ in ‘Hell On Wheels’.
‘Once Upon A Time’ could be shaping up as ABC’s next hit show after a very good week two outing. On cable, USA returned with new episodes of ‘Burn Notice’ and ‘Covert Affairs’, but that was much less of a fairy tale.
The big story last week was the triumphant return of ‘The Walking Dead’ on cable, complete with numbers that the vast majority of network shows couldn’t match.
‘Charlie’s Angels’ became the latest show to be given a pink slip last week. In happier news, Tim Allen’s new sitcom, ‘Last Man Standing’ got off to a very good start. On cable, Shawn and Gus kicked off season six of ‘Psych’ on USA.
As we enter October it is time for the merciless axe of cancellation to start swinging. The week brought the first four pink slips for the 2011-2012 season as ‘Playboy Club’, ‘Free Agents’, ‘How To Be A Gentleman’, and ‘H8R’ were all sent packing.
‘Terra Nova’ didn’t bring the numbers that the $20 million pilot suggested were expected, while ‘Two and a Half Men’ continued to lead all shows and ABC had a good debut for ‘Suburgatory’. On cable, ‘Boardwalk Empire’ is back for HBO.
Ashton Kutcher’s introduction on ‘Two And A Half Men’ brought ridiculous numbers to CBS, while Simon Cowell and ‘X Factor’ quickly dashed any thoughts that FOX might have another ‘Idol’ on their hands.
