This Christmas, we were gifted with two finales of British shows that had rocky seasons. And while the ‘Merlin’ finale was naughty, that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t take a look at ‘Downton Abbey’ and figure out how to be nice.
After the epic failure of last week’s ‘Merlin’ episode, this week’s was cautious and bland – and maybe exactly what we, as an audience, needed.
Weak writing is something ‘Merlin’ fans have had to make peace with for a long, long time. So when an episode is finally well-written, is it too cliched to describe it as “pure magic”?

Today I got to have a quick chat with Colin Morgan, the actor behind the title character in Merlin, on his thoughts on his character’s development, his feelings on Arthurian literature, and how he’s spending his filming break.
