Grimm – More kissing, more revelations

As with all things in life, we find food heals all wounds. It's the same on 'Grimm' one could be led to believe ...

- Season 2, Episode 4 - "Quill"

Well … it appears Hank is no longer on the waiting list. He has picked up his credentials and is now an honorary member of the Grimm-Wesen Marching and Chowder Society.

After last week’s further initiation/hazing, Nick felt it was time to bring his friend up to speed on what he’s all about. If I do say so myself, Hank appears to be taking it rather well, all things considered. And, as if that weren’t enough, Hank got a formal “How do you do?” from Rosalee and Monroe to boot. And then there was the introduction to Fluvus Pestilentia. My, my … things certainly have the tendency to move rather quickly when you’re presented with your official membership card, don’t they?

And stay tuned: It appears Juliette will be getting her entry into the secret society sooner rather than later as well.

Now … let’s get to Monroe and Rosalee. Their relationship is simultaneously fumbling and cute and awkward and has us wondering where it’s going to lead next. More typicalness from it will come in the form of some secondary aside that won’t make a whit of difference in the grand scheme of things wherein Monroe will find it necessary to save his damsel. (Ain’t I romantical?)

Meanwhile, Capt. Renard’s brother Eric (James Frain, The Cape, True Blood) warns his dear sibling there’s more trouble coming to the west in the form of Nuckelavee … whoever he is. (Yes … of course he’s a Wesen.) We can only hope he’s more of a threat than the Mauvais Dentes featured earlier. This is the storyline I’m really looking forward to, where we’re finally let in on what all the secrecy is with the royals and Renard and Europe. It’s way, way more than just getting hold of one of The Keys …

Notes:

  • Now, maybe it’s just me, but it seems there was a bit too much unnecessary killing this episode. Couldn’t Hank just have easily “winged” Carl Stanton and taken him out by shooting him in the shoulder rather than (practically) emptying his revolver into his torso? And couldn’t Wu have done same? I know Mrs. Carlton was coming at our good sergeant with a hefty looking knife, but she was rather far away at the start of things. I would have bet dollars to donuts a shot to the hip or the leg would have incapacitated her to the point of not getting near to Wu to the point of elevated and immediate danger. Just a thought.
  • It might not be exactly fair what with Juliette’s condition and all, but she tells Nick she feels awful about not being able to remember what’s come to pass between them and doesn’t know how to fix it. And then there’s the offer of pasta, which everyone knows will alleviate anything that’s happened in the past. It’s the universal “sorry” … the gastronomic cure-all that transcends fumbling wordplay. (I haven’t yet processed if Juliette’s food offer was comedic or otherwise.)
  • Kissing seems to be the theme of the season thus far. The Mauvais Dentes gave some big ones to a few folks at the start of the season, there was Mommy Burkhardt gushing on Nicky, Renard was stealing them from Juliette and now Monroe and Rosalee are mashing. (Speaking of which, all that face time with Rosalee didn’t infect Monroe in the least to the Fluvus Pestilentia? That stuff was rather nasty; you’d think it would be a little more potent than having the need to be transmitted through an open wound.)
  • You noticed our good mysterious captain was looking up information on Mommy Burkhardt from his “Blue Orb” search engine. Even he knows there’s more to her than meets the eye …
  • It’s usually good fun when Bud The Eisbiber comes round for a visit, invited or not.
  • Sometimes? Satisfaction comes in the form of a run over cat. Justice, too.

I’m just happy they got rid of the voiceover during opening credits … now they just need to get back to season one’s titlecard version.
as for the disease … many real ones are only exchanged via wounds so I am OK with that … as for the killings … what would you do if a crazy armed pustule covered person started lunging at you? You empty your gun into it … that’s what you’d do.

Note: hank didn’t seem to be able to see the wessen in their non human form.

. . . . .

Gordon?

I’m with you on the opening credits. Don’t like’em this season in the least, but the removal of the voice over certainly helped. They’re just too cheesy for my taste.

I’m not with you, however, on Mrs. Stanton’s killing by Wu. There was plenty of time for Wu to have winged her and to have slowed her down with a clipping shot rather than the permanent solution we saw. She was that far away for it to be an option in my opinion.

There was nothing specifically said regarding Hank’s witness of the Wesen transformation this episode, so we’re not certain if he did or didn’t. If memory serves, it appeared he did see it from the look on his face, but nothing concrete was mentioned. There’s still some grey area on how the creatures are viewed overall …

Hank asked Nick if Stanton turned into one of “them” (or something like that) which indicates he could NOT see the change … and he said something about the Parks Employee being one too (but that was only because he was infected with the plague) … he didn’t mention whether or not he could actually see the Parks guy turn into a Hedgehog (or Porcupine) Wessen … nothing was mentioned about Rosalee or Monroe either but Nick told them that they were.

. . . . .

I stand corrected: You’re right.

That grey area? Gettin’ more grey …
