Well, they can’t all be gems, can they? That’s the question that seemed to float through my head as I watched last night’s episode of the USA network’s Royal Pains. It’s okay though. There’s always one off episode in every television season. What’s funny is that this particular installment was actually directed by the guy who plays Evan — Paulo Costanzo … which isn’t to say the episode was bad, but that it was just a little dull compared to others.
Still, there were things to be celebrated. Where do I begin? With Costanzo directing, Evan and Paige didn’t have much screen time. It seems that Paige wants to forget the fact that she’s adopted by enrolling in some sort of art academy … or something. I don’t know. I really wasn’t paying attention to this particular vignette. However, what I did enjoy was the story surrounding Jeremiah. You know, I really like Jeremiah. In fact, I think he’s my new favorite character. Personally, I’m thinking he should replace Boris as one of the new leads since Boris was missing in action … again.
I really got a kick out of seeing Jeremiah come out of his shell when helping a singer with a medical problem. The scene of them dancing together in a nightclub brought a smile to my face. For a second, I thought the two of them were going to hook up, but I think it’s clear that his heart belongs to Divya. Speaking of which, while I liked seeing Divya get some kind of sexual action, I kind of feel as though this whole thing is going to blow up in her face. Things are just moving entirely too fast for her. Didn’t she just meet the man in the last episode? Sheesh. If her parents could see her now!
In other news, there was some medical case involving some baby nonsense that was going on, but what’s more important is that we were left with an interesting cliffhanger — Hank asking Harper to be his girlfriend. I’m glad that the writers brought Harper back. She’s pretty and friendly. We never got to hear her answer, but to be honest, I wouldn’t mind the two of them as a couple. They have pretty good chemistry. I guess we’ll have to wait until next week. So, will Boris ever return? Is Divya’s relationship doomed? What will Jeremiah do when he learns that she has a new main squeeze? And more importantly, is Hank now in a relationship?

Hank is moving WAY too fast! he barely knows this girl. They had ONE date and it was interupted. He sure got over Jill fast now didn’t he?! I have NO interest in seeing Hank date this woman. No thanks. Bring Jill and then we’ll talks. But until then? No! Why can’t they just have Hank be ALONE for more then 3 seconds? Since the second Jill left he has been constantly with a woman and I don’t like it!
This show is kind of over for me. It’s written for mothers, old aunts and Jewish mother-in-laws now. It’s for the sort of office temp female that reads Vanity Fair to dream about some day going to New York and meeting a millionaire. I’m hate when people get hung up about tv couples — I like Kat Foster as Harper, but the writing on Royal Pains is too weak for female character, they’re only around as trophy wives, girl friends, or fiancees; WALLPAPER. Maybe Hank is gay, and just doesn’t want his parents to find out.
I can understand why you love Jill Flint so much Nancy, she is so freaking hot, and so sexy kissing Kalinda too. Have you seen this video on youtube? Amazing!
I have seen her on the Good Wife. They know how to treat her as an actress!
It’s true what you said about the female’s only being used as trophies. They decide Jill and hank are over(why I am not sure) and then instead of finding another storyline for Jill, she is fired? Ouch! I hate to see what will happen to Paige or divya. Paige is only trotted out when Evan needs arm candy. Other then that she has no use on the show!
The character Jill was written off the show; she was never fired. It’s disrespectful and slanderous to post such incorrect information. Alot of characters get written off shows, some even get killed. It’s tv fiction, and heeds to the whatever the producers and writers of the show want to. If you look at the names of Royal Pains, the majority of the people in key positions from the show since Pilot have all moved on. This is very common with tv shows, new people take over and bring in their own staff and friends. It’s nothing personal and all a part of business. Get over it.
As far as I understand Royal pains it is a family-type, comedy drama around two brothers (a doctor and a CFO), they got Divia as a sister (business partner) to them. The only stable or stable supposed characters are Boris and Hankmeds’s fater (both very good actors with little space for this subject (there is no need for any of them to have that much concierge treatments). I do not want Hank married or so, but some of his flirting seems unreasonable, though. Boris is cool guy and I think that he does the best with this a little weird character in the story. However, no matter how good Jill is, she displaced her either for no space or due to her lack of interest for the benefit of the character. Hankmed’s patient and step-mother is always refreshing character. It is not a must for a main character to stick to his girlfriend if he is a workaholic, in the situation he got after being fired he probably has no time to think of his family life and future (we might see a spin-off of this character or his character dreaming of what his future would be like if he married his ex-girl-friend.
Jeremiah is such a good refreshing yet restrained.
