Nathan Fillion’s reddit IAmA … in Denver

If you've been awaiting Nathan Fillion's "Ask Me Anything" on reddit.com, look no further than ... Denver?

For those not in the know about such things, reddit.com has a “sub-reddit” (read: category) of the site dedicated to notable — and sometimes not-so-notable — people offering up a forum of sorts for readers to ask any questions they want of the person. Many times it’s a celebrity; other times it’s just some old guy who went back to college to get cheaper health insurance. Now, just because it’s “ask me anything” may not necessarily guarantee the person actually answers everything, but many certainly try. And the more votes a question gets, the more likely you’ll see a response.

Nathan Fillion had been Tweeting for some time about being featured in an IAmA recently, and then it happened … in the Denver sub-reddit. I don’t think anyone quite knows why he did this, but apparently it has something to do with the not-so-intuitive iOS app interface. In any case, he says he plans to start up again in the right sub-reddit soon enough.

But, in case you missed it, here are some gems I’ve picked out for you. As you can see, Fillion’s just as you’d expect/hoped he’d come off on such a thing, and he’s pretty candid about many of the questions asked:

Q: Castle fan here. Great show. Do you expect the writing to get a little but better this season? It seemed so slow in comparison to last couple seasons. Will we see more of 3xk this season? I really hope so.
A: I have noticed in the past that castle has lost a little bit of the fun that makes the show so great. Expect to see that again in season five.

Q: we all love Castle, Firefly, & DR Horrible so is there anything you touch that doesn’t turn to TV gold? has there ever been something (work wise) you aren’t really proud of? or wish you didn’t do?
A: Everything I’ve done so far has put me in the place I am now, so I regret nothing. As for everything I touch turning to gold? Check IMDb for a long list of failed television programs.

Q: Oh my goodness I can’t believe you’re on reddit. First off thank you so very much for being you, and for being a part of something that has changed my life. Now my big question is do you feel that any of your roles show the real you or do you change yourself to better become the character subconsciously? Or is it all a persona you put on and take off at the end of the day? Again thank you for being you!
A: First, thank you for being so sweet. Second, my brother once told me that he couldn’t believe I get paid to act, because all I’m doing is being myself. I take that as a compliment. You want to know how to act? Act naturally.

Q: What’s it like to be a god?
A: Ask Joss.

Q: when can we expect dr. horrible 2?
A: How long can you hold your breath?

Q: You’ve been playing a writer for 5 years now, but how are your real life writing skills?
A: I once wrote a buddy comedy show for Alan Tudyk and myself. I sold it, but it didn’t go anywhere. I found it to be a stressful experience.

Q: What does Adam Baldwin smell like?
A: Bravery and sausages.

Q: Would you consider working with Bruce Campbell on a project?
A: I’d give my left nut.
Q: What’s so special about the right one?
A: It complements the left?

Q: Any insider information about the popular fan theory that Inara had a terminal disease and that’s why she decided to wander the stars and always seemed to push Mal away?
A: You need to tune into the science Channel’s firefly special.

Q: What would you consider your favorite role to date? Most challenging? Just for fun: Boxers or briefs? TP under or over? Coke or Pepsi?
A: Mal, Mal, boxer briefs, over, Dr.Pepper.
Q: You are like my twin. Except, you know, the whole acting bit…
A: Then you sir, are a good-looking bastard.
