Political Animals is the new cutting edge limited series on the USA Network. The series opens with the former first lady, Elaine Barrish, conceding the democratic primary for president. When her rival wins the presidency, she is called to service to be the secretary of state. Sound familiar? The premise clearly is based on Hillary Clinton, but after the opening moments the story becomes its own.
Elaine divorced her philandering former president husband, Bud, and takes on the political world. This is a story of her family and how her ex-husband and two sons have come out the other side of their time in the White House. It also provides a behind-the-scenes look at the maneuvering and manipulation that takes place within our government, as well as, internationally.

I’m interested in finding more out about Douglas Hammond and his soon to be wife, Anne Ogami. I find Anne compelling because of her mindset of always having to look perfect and put-to-together. I’m waiting to see when she’ll flip!
I agree with Kevin and find the Douglas/Anne relationship the most compelling. I think it’s going to turn into something really juicy as the show goes on. Favorite quote was said by Margaret: “Oh, all you homos love me. It’s the rich, straight ones I’m worried about.” This show is AMAZING by the way!
I like Elaine because she did what Hillary should have done, divorced her horn-dog husband.
So I take it that y’all recommend watching this show? How many episodes will there be?
*POST AUTHOR*
I’d recommend giving it a watch. I liked it. There are 6 episodes.
I liked “How am I going to do anything important if no one helps me?” (I’m not sure why. It just made me laugh.)
My favorite line was from Margaret Barrish ( Ellen Burstyn ) If I had a rack like hers, I may still be getting laid! She just says what ever she wants, no filter! Made me laugh out loud.
My favorite line was from Elaine Barrish around 48:15.
“Most of life is hell. It’s filled with failure and loss. People disappoint you; dreams don’t work out; hearts get broken; innocent journalists die; and the best moments of life, when everything comes together, are few and fleeting. But you’ll never get to the next great moment if you don’t keep going. So, that’s what I do; I keep going.”
I’m going through a pretty rough patch right now, and so are some of my friends. Hearing this from someone who is portrayed as a strong woman and individual really put a spark in my resolve to keep moving on. I want to keep going.
“Don’t call a b*tch a b*tch. Us b*tches hate that.” ~Elaine
Hands down favorite quote: You’re a bitch with a capital ‘C’! WELL DONE GREG!
Im partial to TJ he is adorable and such a troubled soul, living in a fish bowl is never easy for anyone especially children
I got hooked on Elaine. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next episodes.
This show looks like a BIG WINNER!
Great show. I will watch every episode (more Than once for sure). Best line ” don’t call a bitch a bitch. Us bitches hate that.”

I love Elaine ~ I like her spunk and her “I dont care” attitude she is my favorite, excited to see where this story line is going to go
