Just as season 2 of The Walking Dead ended, I felt the need to go out and get my hands on a copy of “The Walking Dead Compendium One” and to read all over again. And I did.
A few days later, I was finished with it. I headed back to my local library, turned it in and asked about a Compendium Two volume. I wasn’t certain it was out and didn’t do any research as to whether there was a Compendium Two, but I got a wild hair and decided to ask the librarian to check it 
out for me.
Later that afternoon, I got an e-mail from one of the muckity-mucks at a main branch in Salt Lake City which was rather frantic and questioning: “What do you know about a Compendium Two!? Because I can’t find anything about it. But I’m going to research it and see what I come up with. I’ll keep you posted.”
Shortly thereafter, I got a personal call from the same guy stating nothing had been published yet and thanks for getting him unnecessarily riled up about the prospect of sitting down with another mega-fat volume of The Walking Dead bliss.
Today, however, I’m happy to report the time of said volume is not that far distant, October 3rd to be precise. Rejoice, fellow readers of the comics and fans of the AMC series! The summer will fly by — just as certainly and as quickly as the middle of 2012 has gotten here — which will lead to Fall and the new volume. Personally, I’m ecstatic in anticipation for this new compendium. It makes terrific “library reading” (if you catch my drift) and is a safe bet to give the late night reader frightful nightmares.
And in the meantime, if you can’t make it to the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, there’s a fix for you to enjoy if withdrawal is pervading your soul for Rick Grimes and Company. AMC is doing a little 2-day marathon of The Walking Dead on Saturday and Sunday, July 7th and 8th followed by a new episode of The Talking Dead with a preview of season three, cast interviews, a set tour and show news. In the meantime, start saving your pennies for the new Compendium Two lumbering your way shortly. Definitely something to look forward to, folks.
