Royal Pains – Will Jill be back? We have an answer!

In last week's 'Royal Pains,' Jill returned to Africa. Does that mean we have seen the last of Dr. Casey in the Hamptons?

On Royal PainsJill left the Hamptons once before, but she came back. Is Jill really gone this time? Or, will she be back?

I hope we see Dr. Jill Casey (Jill Flint) again. I was disappointed when Jill and Hank broke up because of her decision to go to Africa. I adore the two of them together. They complement each other perfectly — both personally and professionally. I was hopeful when she lost the job in Africa that she would stay in the Hamptons and get back together with Hank. Even though they broke up, they were together all the time! Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be. She ended up going to Africa anyway. (Come on, Royal Pains writers, what was up with that misdirection?)

On Jaylen’s review for “A Guesthouse Divided,” the comments were mixed. Like me, some people were sad to see her go, while others were glad she left for Africa. I find it difficult to believe that Jill will be gone forever. She is a series regular after all. And, oftentimes, series regulars are contracted to appear in only a certain number of episodes. I am hopeful that is the situation with Jill Flint. Perhaps, this is the way of explaining her absence from a few episodes. Fingers crossed!

And, then what comes across my twitter stream that other day? Hope!

Michael Rauch is the executive producer of Royal Pains and if anyone would know if Jill would be back, it is him. Now, of course, he didn’t definitively say she would return, but … I take that tweet to mean that she will.

So, are you happy to know that it looks likely that we will see Jill again? Do you want her to return and run into Hank’s arms? I know that I do!

Updated (June 26, 2012): The executive producers of Royal Pains did an interview with TV Guide and have confirmed that Jill Flint has left the show, but stated that Dr. Casey could return. It is possible that she will be back during season four, but they didn’t provide details about how that would happen.

Make sure to come back each week to read Jaylen’s Royal Pains reviews!

I too hope she comes back but don’t want to get my hopes up either. I just don’t understand WHY she left. I will be curious to see if her name is in the credits this week or if they are gone. if they took her off the main credits then she is gone, at least for now. But I hope she comes back. Because if not, I am done with Royal Pains. The Jill/Hank relationship was one of the main reasons I watched. So without her there I just have no interest.

As a fan of Jill Flint, I’ll say that if she’s off the show that’s ok with me. I like her and want to see more of her talents shine elsewhere as she has done on other shows such as the excellent The Good Wife, and Nurse Jackie (Two shows that are Emmy award winning productions for the actresses!). Royal Pains is a show built around the character Hank, unfortunately the direction of the show is to make it more about Hank and his family/relatives Evan/Dad etc… Royal Pains has always been weak on featuring strong female character dialogue, hence all the women tend to be wishy washy and needy for a boyfriend or parents. The female characters are Rich girl (Divya), Girlfriend (Jill), spoiler Rich girl (Hampton Hank med patients) Page (Girlfriend/fianceee), Mothers (with mental problems), widows (that can’t cope). It’s silly to expect actors to be on a show 24/7, and some shipper type fans need to understand, that people need to expand their resumes too. If there are RP fans that love Hank and Evan good for them. I actually only became interested in Royal Pains after finding out that Jill Flint is was a regular on this summer show, other than this reason I had incentive to watch this. I did enjoy the first season when there was nothing to view in the summer, but 2009/2010 is vastly different to 2012. The standards are higher for tv throughout the year, and scripted dramas are everywhere out of the USA Network basic cable domain. Doesn’t to me matter if Jill Casey returns or not, but I do care to see Jill Flint the actress on good televsion shows and films. Royal Pains Shipper type fans shouldn’t force producers to change their agenda, and rant. Oh, Tv producers can say anything, and it doesn’t mean things will happen.

Jill Flint is back on the Good Wife! She also tweeted today that she will. I also saw an article about it. The writers of the GW said “We love Jill”! At least one show appreciates her. Because RP sure never did!

While I agree with you that the women on this show are all needy for a man and seem to have no storyline outside of the men in their lives, I still think the writers could have tried harder

And why would the writers say she would come back if she won’t? Why lie like that? I see no reason too. Nobody is trying to force anyone to do anything. You are right that we can’t make them do anything. But I see no reason for a tv writer to lie about her coming back if she isn’t. What purpose would that serve? it’s not going to keep fans watching. The writers can’t force fans to keep watching and lying about her returning would be stupid in my opinion.
I agree that with Jill gone the show is just going to be boring. I have no interest in Boris’s storyline. This is supposedly a light summer show yet we have gunfire? Really?
Nobody is expecting Jill to do anything. I just find it odd that she seems to have nothing but praise for the show but wants out? By season 3 they started the Uruguay storyline. So it is obvious she wanted out as early as season 3. Which seems stupid. I don’t see her on the Good Wife permanently. While i do enjoy seeing her on the show, I just don’t see a place for her character on a permanent basis.
Expanding your resume is one thing. But when you flit from series to series it makes an actor look flighty and unable to commit to anything and it just looks bad. Most actors want to join a series and stay as long as they can. But by season 3 she wanted out. I love the actress, I just think she is not able to commit to a show for long. Her resume is full of guest starring roles. RP was her first series and yet she could not stay with that for long.

nope, read an article saying she’s not coming back, for now.

Their reasons for why she was let go are some of the LAMEST I have ever heard. So because they were not ready for them to be together yet, because they could not find any more legitimate reason for keeping them apart, they fire her? Did they even TRY to find her another storyline? No. Just makes my choice to quit watching SO much easier! Goodbye Royal Pains. It was nice while it lasted.

I stuck with Royal Pains because of Jill Flint. All along, however, I was wanting her to headline her own show, or at least get a more substantial part in a new show. I eagerly await news of her next endeavor.

There is no way you can tell me this was not about money. Jill gets kicked off the show at the SAME time that the other two get full time status. Coincidence? Yeah I don’t think so! This was about money and nothing more. And their lame ass reasons for getting rid of her are just that:LAME!

How is it okay for Evan and Paige to get married after they started out as nothing more then a sham. But Hank and Jill can’t be together because they started out as rebounds? That is a bit of an oxymoron isn’t it?

July 14, 2012 at 5:49 PM

Someone said to her on twitter “Why Paige Collins and not Jill Casey(in the opening credits)” She said “I have tricks up my sleeve” she has said this twice now. I don’t want to get my hopes up that the writers had a chance of heart or that she is getting a spinoff for her character but I found that response interesting. If she were on the good wife or something she would tell us since it would get out eventually. So it is an interesting response. Whenever someone says they miss her on the show she never really says much except cryptic responses like this!
The writers said she might be back but they didn’t know when or in what capacity. SO it is not a secret that she might come back now and then. So I just find that response of her interesting.

July 14, 2012 at 6:04 PM

Twice now when someone said something about missing her on the show or why Paige is in the credits but not her that is the answer she gives. Really strange. Instead of just saying “Thanks I miss it too” or something like that.

Please, get your facts straight. Jill Casey is not a doctor, she was the administrator of the hospital. Her job traveling around the world is to set up clinics, not tend patients.

Having said that, now that she’s gone, no reason to keep watching Royal Pains.

Generals don’t get paid that much. Where did Paige Collins parents (General william collins) get their money?

August 16, 2012 at 2:35 AM

Did the writers lie? They promised we would see Jill again this season. Yet with what? 5 episodes left in the season I just don’t see how. And unless she is in the prequel movie I think they lied. I really don’t see the point of a prequel at this point either. Seems the writers are running out of ideas if they have to copy Burn Notice!
