Death is nothing new to Revenge. In “Grief,” the death was the first one worthy of tears. Sammy, perhaps the only truly innocent character, passed away from old age. At least he lived a nice long life.
Sammy’s death held special meaning for both Jack and Emily. For Jack, Sammy was his connection to his childhood friend, Amanda. And, for Emily, it was the last connection to her father, as well as, a reminder of her childhood love.
It was heartbreaking to watch the two of them grieve together with Jack sitting right next to Amanda and not knowing it. And, for Emily to be in such pain without being willing to tell the truth. Despite the secrets, their bond was undeniable. And, they kissed!!! Emily and Jack kissed! But, in all actuality it was not Emily. Really, it was Amanda and Jack that kissed. The real Amanda as Emily is just a facade.
When Emily and Daniel first started dating, they were so good together. It was difficult to decide whether Emily should stay with Daniel or let her feelings for Jack out. Now the situation has changed. Daniel is no longer the man who wanted to get free from his family and live a life together with Emily. Instead, he is following in his parents’ corrupt ways. And, that makes him a target.
All Daniel needed to do was the right thing, but he was swayed by Conrad to remain loyal. That should make the decision easy for Emily. She deserves some happiness and she can have that with Jack. Unless Daniel is double-crossing his parents (which I doubt), Emily needs to dump him and fast!
Besides Jack, the only other person who has been there for Emily without judgment has been Nolan. He has at times been concerned that Emily was getting herself in too deep, but he has never judged her for it. For the first time, he stepped in to stop her from making a huge mistake. As much as the White Haired Man deserved to die for killing David and others, I’m not sure Emily could have actually pulled the trigger. And, if that happened, she would have outed herself to the enemy.
Unfortunately for Nolan, he is not invincible and he met his match in the White Haired Man. Now, I wouldn’t put it past Revenge to kill Nolan, I don’t think it would best serve the story. I predict that Nolan is alive. The White Haired Man needs to find out what Nolan knows and prevent any information from getting out. If Nolan is dead, he can’t do that. But, that means that Nolan’s life is still at risk.
We have one more episode left this season and it looks to be a doozy! Hopefully, Emily will be able to copy the evidence in Daniel’s suitcase. That would help her pursuit of justice for her father immensely. Plus, Ashley is sure to use the information about Emily and Jack kissing to her advantage. She is no friend to Emily. Will someone die? A friend? Or a foe? Do you want Emily to leave Daniel for Jack? Or, should she continue to keep Daniel close?
I can see how Emily wants to continue her relationship with Daniel in order to remain close to all the goings-on. But I don’t think she anticipated this development with Jack until all the “revenge” was already taken care of. I’m not sure what she will do. She probably won’t leave Daniel at this point, because she has come too close to lose momentum on her plan. This will end up breaking Jack’s heart (until next season, probably, when they will really get together).
As for Nolan, I agree that he is an important character and I think he will be kept alive. I think he may be threatened by the White Haired Man to work for him, but he will somehow alert Emily to this discreetly.
