Yep. The kids at McKinley should have expected something like a “Dinosaur Theme” for their prom when Brittany became class president on Glee. I think that based on what Principal Figgins said about Brittany not paying attention to her duties all year anyway, that the prom committee was just praying she wouldn’t notice. However, once Figgins took Brittany into his office (and by the way, it was just ridiculous that he greeted her as “Sexy Teen Trollop”) we knew that we were in for a definitely different kind of senior dance.
This episode was rather short on story line for me, considering we only have next week at Nationals, and then the finale to round out the season. But? I suppose that all goes along with the feel good attitude of finishing out the school year with the glitz and glamour and fun and angst that make up your last major high school experience.
Rachel was back to her selfish ways, staging an “anti-prom” so she would not have to see Finn and Quinn dance together as the shoe-in Prom King and Queen. Again, she waffled a lot in this episode. First she was accepting the fact that her dream of getting into NYADA was seemingly gone and tried to be upbeat about getting married. Then? She became annoyingly petulant, whining about high school ending the way it began … with a sad Jewish girl watching Finn with the beautiful Quinn. And by the end? She apologized for being so into herself and swore she had changed.
Does this sound familiar? If so, it’s only because the writers have used this angle time and time and time again with Rachel’s character. I can’t wait until she graduates. Enough already!
Quinn also took a step backward (and that’s hard to do in a wheelchair) by trying to get the sympathy vote for prom Queen, knowing full well she could now stand and walk. This so she could get her big dramatic moment from the crowd. (Which she ended up getting anyway, even though she and Santana fixed the results so Rachel would win.) Yes. Finn opened Quinn’s eyes that staging her recovery was wrong, but that whole scene was lost when Quinn pulled herself up and sang and everyone cheered.
Having said what bugged me about this episode? There were two shining threads to the story. Becky, always one of my favorites, dealing with not being nominated for Prom Queen just like “the girl like her on the commercial” was one. Heart wrenching and also funny in the scenes where she had to show her rage, Lauren Potter was amazing. Her scenes with Sue (as usual) and Puck were a highlight, and I loved how we saw Puck’s softer side when he gave Becky her prom wish.
Shoot me, because this was just a small part of the story, but I had to laugh at Blaine’s utter freak out about hair gel not being allowed at prom. Even though this was almost an aside to the goings on? I thought Darren Criss was adorably paranoid about Kurt seeing him with his full blown curly hair. That is definitely something a high school kid would worry about, and I have to say that the one thing I really like about Kurt and Blaine’s relationship is the support they effortlessly give each other.
The songs were fun and frolicky this time around. I admit to not knowing a few of them, considering they were contemporary pop tunes. My favorite was the version of Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away,” cause I’m … old.
On to Nationals next week!

Sure Rachel is selfish, but she is at least a decent person. Quinn is selfish and a bitch.
Really tired of the double standard for Rachel she had a huge set back and is is dealing with it but is selfish, while others can go along manipulating and lying to people or bitching they are just fine and dandy.
Jokes on you becasue next year Rachel will still be front and center, where she belongs.

Joe, if you read again, you’ll see I commented about Quinn and her manipulative nature.
Quinn has and remains my least favorite. First, her character is a true mean girl. She has revelations, but they’re always fleeting. Plus, her adenoidal nasalness drives me nuts. Mayhaps she requires to get that deviated septum repaired or something. She’s obnoxious.
Rachel. Rachel, Rachel, Rachel. She turns to the good side because she’s learned it will give her the attention she wants. People are forgiving, not stupid. Finn is stupid.
The song Britney sang/danced to was unfamiliar to me. I thought for certain they’d sing Was Not Was “Walk the Dinosaur.” The rest of the songs I did know thanks to my 17 year old son, with exception to the Berlin tune.
Oh yeah! Four inch heels on a girl who just got her legs back? I don’t think so.
BEST part of this episode was Becky and Puck. I nearly lost it when they walked in the gym wearing crowns made from food boxes. Sue’s natural reaction was priceless.
Did you notice the homage to GREASE when Sue was making announcements. Classic. Loved it.
Even though they didn’t sing Walk the Dinosaur, it did play in the background at one point.

Yet, another hour of fast paced laughter, shocking gasps of “I can’t believe she/he said that”, more laughing,of course singing along and tapping my slipper clad toes to the “cover tunage” pouring from my t.v.! Yes, it’s easy to tell this year of school is winding down. Much like in real life for my Daughter & Son. I must say I wasn’t shocked by Miss Brittany S. Pears “Promasaurus” theme- I’m going to take it as a nod to the “evolution” of Earth & Man…much like that of the life of of a High School student….too deep? Anywho…of course I liked it! Flip flopping dispositions, crude remarks, mixed with a great message, bonus awesome cover cuts and awesome gowns (LOVE a beautiful gown). Note; if anyone told me tomorrow that hair gel had been outlawed…I would shave my head and spare my fellow Amercians the pain of seeing my very short hair in it’s natural state- a scary, coarse halo with absolutely no style! So big snaps to Blaine. On to Graduation!

I’ve watched the show from the beginning and thought I would like most of the characters, but as the seasons passed, there are fewer and fewer I can even tolerate. I literally hate the Rachel character (so full of herself on the show and from what I read & have seen on the red carpet, full of herself in real life.)
I have stuck with the show this season but about halfway through decided I won’t make an effort to watch next season. It’s just not that interesting anymore. I feel like the premise every week is the same: walk the halls, conflict, sing; glee club meeting, cliche’d banter, sing; same old same old. Whether they win Nationals this season or not, I really don’t care.
