Touch – The Amelia sequence

Wouldn’t you like to be in the writer’s room of Touch?

I know I would. It’s got to be an interesting place to visit, a whirl wind of ideas flying around, putting together the pieces of a puzzle that will make a story like “Lost And Found” come together. Those pieces have to be carefully crafted in order to work … incredibly so. How else can something like this episode see the light?

There wasn’t much left to chance that could not have been an integral part of the whole in this story. Plus, we found out (or maybe I just did) there was a whole lot more:

• That “975” and its digits popped up all over the place, didn’t it? (And well it should, given what Touch is.) In this chapter, those numbers represented “hope.” Did you catch that? The hand print? The star on the ground? The news channel? The reference to “Hubie” (Hubie J. Crawford) in the crossword puzzle? And despite the fact it was the number of the doomed PanHorizon flight it did give hope to Will Davies. Plus, Davies height? 5’9″. (I’m telling you: This stuff jumps out at you.)
• And what about the “6,” the next number in the sequence? It symbolized “death,” quite possibly. The number “6” was integral in the (supposed?) “death” of Arthur Teller. It was the number of drops of blood Davies left on the floor when he left his superior’s office at Lamont Properties. There were 6 construction workers at the demolition site where Martin and Clea found her mother. It was the room where Teller thought Amelia was located, who he saw visions of as a ghost.
• What exactly is the “Amelia Sequence” and what roll will it play down the line? Teller sure was excited about it, especially in that it was “indirectly” involved in his salvation and awareness. And it will come up later, just as the Fibonacci Sequence will from the pilot episode.
• And is Teller really dead? I don’t believe so. There’s too much we don’t know about him.

Interesting Catch:

• Lanny Zheng in the airport, doing the crossword puzzle? She was at Gate B20, yet her ticket clearly showed Gate 77 as the departure. Additionally, there was a standing marquee denoting “A” gates in the airport. The point? Even on a show where the numbers mean everything and are a key part of the story, some of the props/continuity gals/guys can slip up. Tough job to do. (Unless … it was “suggested” the gate number was an entrance into heaven, being the number “7” is very symbolic in many circles. *hmmmmmmmmmmm*)

Notes:

• There is no possible way the super on the job demolishing the building would allow Martin and Clea to enter it when it’s set for demolition in mere minutes … or any time for that matter. And that’s why Davies appeared, to go on the rampage and hold the workers at bay while they slipped in to look for Clea’s mom and the missing boy.
• Was it a coincidence Davies was signed up with “NuLife Fertility Clinic?” Nope.
• The dream of Martin keeps having about hugging Jake is going to manifest itself down the line. It caught my breath he hugged him at the beginning of the episode … and turned out to be another full-circle come about in the story upon finding Andy in the park.
• Anyone else notice there was a whole lot of “touching” going on in this episode?
