Not only did we touch on a little mythology in this episode of Grimm, we got some set up on things to come.
But in the process, there are lots of questions to be answered:
- What’s the deal with Capt. Renard being so hot and heavy about Hank, getting Hexenbiest Adelind (Claire Coffee) intimately involved in his life? For whatever reason he’s setting wheels in motion to get to Nick through him. We’ll find out soon enough. Renard does have a mysterious M.O. thus far as has clearly been witnessed from episodes past …
- Plus, there’s more to Adelind than meets the eye. (No pun intended.) She’s not simply a pawn of Renard. What is it? She’s got ulterior motive somehow …
- One of the more intriguing things I found about this episode was the manner in which Nick reacted on his brief relationship with the Fuchsbau apothecary (Freddy Calvert played by Randy Schulman). Remember he destroyed illicit wares in his shop back on “Organ Grinder”? But not so with his sister Rosalie (Bree Turner). That changed quickly, however, when he mentioned later about her knowing more than she let on about her sibling Having her be an ex-junkie wrapped up that little mystery post haste and satisfyingly for me. Sometimes, it’s the little things.
- Speaking of Rosalie, she appears to be playing a bigger role in the scheme of things; she’s on next week’s Grimm as well. Recurring role for her?
Notes:
- I enjoy the little comical asides of the repairman who was once shading Nick and Juliette — and still appears to be in a roundabout sort of way — while offering gifts left and right. Somehow, I figure he’s going to get a recruitment from Nick to help him out somehow. Mark my words.
- Huh. That “jayceen” derivative is weird stuff, especially when it causes you to munch on the innards of your couch cushions as it did Sgt. Wu. I’ve owned a dog or two who have done the same thing. Coincidence … ??? *hhmmmmmmmmmmmmm*
- Do you find it a little interesting Monroe mentioned to Nick in “Organ Grinder” to “count your fingers after you shake hands with a Fuchsbau” … yet he’s gotten all googoo-eyed as he falls for one?
- And hey: Nice welts consequences of that pilfered cookie, Sgt. Wu! That will teach you to swipe someone else’s goodies! (Speaking of Sgt. Wu, take a gander at the interview An and I did with Reggie Lee last week.)
- Did anyone notice the posters on Wu’s wall in his department boasting Grimm crew? Nice little Easter eggs: Turkish Sunrise with Timothy Finlayson, Angela Smith (set decoration buyer), Wilson Peery (art department coordinator) and (“From the creators of “Turkish Sunrise comes”) 3 CCs To Murder with Tyler Beem, Doreen Vantyne (department head hair), Joseph Rynearson, Yona Prost (script supervisor). I dig that kind of stuff.
- Lastly, Juliette seems to be coming into the fold little by little. With her impressive firearm skills, how can Nick not let her in on his Grimm heritage?
