“I hear you had a run-in with Buffy the Vampire.” – Caroline, to Alaric, about Rebekah knocking him out
Did you ever start out watching an episode of The Vampire Diaries, thinking you knew what would likely happen, and then the episode turns out nothing like you thought? Yes, me too … every week. That’s the fun of this show. Instead of milking Sage and her hatred, turning her into another Katherine to toy with the gang each week, she got offed. And her offage revealed yet another new piece of mytharc. We barely got through the white oak that could kill the originals, and now we find out that you can’t kill an original after all … without killing the entire bloodline (it’s not looking good for Tyler … or, Klaus is one lucky bastard). I kind of enjoyed watching Sage expel blood and whither into a pile of ashes, but maybe that’s just me.
As much fun as all the death was, one of my favorite scenes was between Caroline and Alaric. For one, it showed the absolute agony that good Alaric has for the deeds his alter ego has done. His apology for killing Caroline’s father was heartwrenching. Then, Caroline’s strength and pure heart went and trumped Alaric — her explanation of the blood on her hands, and the fact that she couldn’t judge him was just so Caroline. She’s amazing, and I quote: “I’m going to take a page from the Elena Gilbert handbook and believe that you can be saved.” Exquisite.
My other favorite scene was between Stefan and Elena. I wanted it to be like the old days for some reason … I wanted Elena to forgive Stefan, and I wanted Stefan to stop pushing her away and for them to fall into each other’s arms. Then I thought about the scene from a couple of episodes ago, where Elena says that her love for Stefan helped her feel safe after her parents’ death, because he couldn’t die on her. What she can’t explain about her feelings for Damon is exactly what makes me think it’s more real. So I realized that Stefan and Elena can’t go back. I believe him when he says he will always love her and that she has never stopped loving him, but I think for them to be together without any doubts, something else is going to have to happen, something to bring their love some relevancy to the present, to honor all of the events that have taken place since their separation and to honor the changes in both of them. I’m not sure what that would be, but it has to happen for their reunion to mean something.
Does that mean I think that Elena should eventually end up with Stefan? I’m not sure. I do know that she can’t leave her feelings for Damon unexplored and maybe Damon will end up her soulmate. It’s all about the timing, and the timing isn’t right for Elena and Stefan.
So … Bonnie. Has she lost it, or is she just showing her softer side? Has her bitchiness all been to cover the fact that she is constantly getting hurt by every event on this show? Somehow, all roads lead to someone Bonnie loves suffering, or being threatened with suffering, which makes Bonnie suffer. Maybe her brave (read: bitchy) face has finally melted off to reveal a broken person who can finally reach out and get the help she needs from her friends. Or Bitches Anonymous.

Okay here is my issue with the love triangle… it will never feel real. No matter who she ends up with, it will never be fully satisfying because of the way they have handled things this season, and that makes me kind of sad. If she ends up with Stephen, we will deep down wonder if she still harbors feelings for Damon, and vice-versa. It’s nearly impossible to invest in either outcome. I thought the same thing about wanting Elena and Stephen to ‘fall into each others arms’, but then I thought, so what if they do? She’ll just be back to secretly wanting Damon next week. They they will fall into each others arms and the following week she’ll be back to her ‘undieing love for Stephen’.

I believe Elena and Stefan’s relationship should be put on hold for now that he knows she has “feelings” for Damon. Even if she didn’t admit it, her silence was worth a million words. Now, the storyline should let her and Damon explore what they have built between them. They should be able to find out if what they feel from each other is real. Well, we know Damon’s love for her it’s been there for a while, but until now is when Elena has allowed herself to even recognize and admit to herself what has happened and just how deep Damon has gotten under her skin. She needs to know if what she feels is real so she can make a rational decision of what is going to happen to this tedious love triangle. By the way Damon has grown on her, I bet it will not be easy at all to give him or Stefan up. Elena not being able to deny it to Stefan ( of all people) is extremely significant. It would be a very refreshing and welcomed change of pace if Damon/Elena are granted some “let’s give this thing a shot” time… We all want to see her with him even if she goes back to Stefan .zzzzz… Boring, but I guess they will have to follow the books’ storyline and make them be together again. Not a pretty picture, I may add… DELENA all the way…Damon is a sexy beast!!! <3
Damon was hiding his white oak stakes in the wood pile by the fireplace, hiding in plain sight if you will. Alaric was calling him on his failed attempt to do the same thing with the moonstone in the soap dish. But I really do hope that means Tyler is coming back into the fold!!
all of your statements are right, that elena and stefan are not the same anymore due to the new profound feelings that elena has felt towards damon. But all those delena fans out there, think about what true love is, who has got elena so far, that strong unbreakable bond between elena and stefan is genuine. Damon, on the other hand is obviously a hot and a badass but is he really fit for elena? is that who youd be choosing in place of elena? his looks and defiant dispossession over someone who would risk absolutely everything and take care and consideration to. if elena ends up with damon, what the hell is true love then? a whole series wasted.
First thing I really don’t want damon and elena I think damon can do way better I would want someone to love him the same way he loves her .. But if ur asking about real love .. Then ask ur self if it is/was real love then how come she has feelings for damon .. There is a quote that says if u love 2 at the same time choose the 2nd one cas if the 1st was real or good enough u would never fall for the 2nd no matter what .. And damon will definitely risk absolutely everything to take care of her and his bro as well and I think we saw that enough from season 1 .. He will die for her .. He was bitten to save her and caroline .. And I love damon not cas of the way he looks at all but for who he is .. I wouldn’t like if him and stefan stop fighting cas of elena! In mt opinion the triangle thing is getting way to boring!!!
I couldn’t agree with you more AND it is just WRONG to date your brother’s girlfriend. He never should have crossed the line and as for Elena, she never should have let the kiss happen. She and Damon got closer trying to save Stefan, so did she forget that her love for him is what kept her going? Stefan joined Klaus to save the two of them, do they realize his sacrafice? I too will be disappointed in this series if they make Elena’s character no better than Katherine.
Ya me too I think she starting to be katherin # 2 .. But if u think about it her love to stefan probably wasn’t the only reason that kept her going cas at one point she told damon “then will let him go” and when she told damon”let’s get out of here” in the beginning of the season “because I don’t want to see get hurt” and of course its not right to love ur brother’s girl but we never have control on our feelings that why they call it “fall” in love .. Plus stefan keep pushing her away up till this point for no reason .. If he gets over that fact that she might have feeling for damon and stop pushing her away there is a big chance they will be bk old stenfan and elena and maybe the feeling she has for damon will go away .. If she go to be with damon then leave him to go bk to stefan that will really hurt damon and it would be fair and she will be such a bitch .. I would like to see him get over her and move on to sm1 else and the boring triangle thing ends!
I think that Damon and Elena might get there chance to see if it works but Elena will see that he is good for awhile but she and Stefan are soulmates and belong together.
Can Elena really be with either brother? I see one big problem with that scenario … she’s going to get old. So, she either has to be turned, or she ends up with the only human male left in town, Matt (series finale spoiler?).
And I’m sorry to see Sage be done with already. I was quite thrilled to see Cassidy Freeman back on The CW!
First, the picture resemblance of Miss Piggy and Rebekah is disturbing/hysterical. I too was sucked into the feeling of wanting Elena and Stefan to fall into each others arms – but then realized it wasnt the same anymore. Amazing how the show (through the writing and acting) can do that – we all felt the same thing.
Lots written about how people are sick of the triangle. Wow. Not me. The scenes are too intense and delicious. More please. Even if it has to be a dream sequence…
And, if we want to talk about something we are sick of, how about the mantra “I am going to kill everyone you love unless you do what I say”. That is so overdone at this point that I even felt the actors (klaus) said it almost tiredly and with a bit of jest at this point themselves. Enough already. Let’s think of something else to say or just go back to people actualy dying instead of just talking about it.
I thought for a second Stefan was going to take the stake and quickly/surprisingly kill Rebekah and count one less stake. That would have been AWESOME. And as always, any time they want to kill Bonnie off is fine with me. Let’s get a hot witch to take over her duties, shall we? Male or female. Maybe a new love interest for Damon….I may have something there.
