“Dear Diary, A chipmunk asked me my name today. I told him it was Joe. That lie will haunt me forever.”- Damon, mocking Stefan’s diary
They’ve done it again, dammit! The Vampire Diaries has thrown me for a loop, taken me on a whirlwind ride of twists and turns until I landed at a place I never — ever! — thought I’d be. Is Alaric really the Founders’ Council killer? Alaric, sweet, kind-hearted Alaric, who was seemingly screwed over by psycho Meredith? Now I am expected to believe that Meredith not only makes sense, but has Alaric’s best interests at heart. And I do … for now. They really led up to this in such a spectacular way in this episode. When the sheriff was questioning Alaric, and you could hear the doubt in his own voice, wondering if he believed his own alibi … when they teased us with Meredith catching Matt and Elena in her apartment … with the stolen Samantha Gilbert journal finally deciphered by Elena in the nick of time … well-played. I say that a lot, don’t I?
Touching base on the Stefan-Damon relationship has become a must-write for me each episode, and this week has me wondering. I do think that Damon has Stefan’s best interests at heart. Stefan has shown that his cold turkey / blood lust mood swings are worse than my PMS (just a little). Maybe Damon does have a point that Stefan needs to learn moderation, self-control and still be strong and healthy by drinking human blood. I can’t believe I just equated a good dose of blood juice to the likes of antioxidants and vitamin D. … But the fact that Damon will be there for Stefan, to keep pulling him back until Stefan no longer needs him — that was some pretty cool brother bonding. Samon joked through the whole episode about it, but it ended up being pretty powerful.
Anyone else thinking there were a few sparks between Elena and Matt just before Alaric came in? That wasn’t the best part of their scene together though — it was Elena vocalizing why she’s so addicted to the Salvatore brothers. It was interesting to me that Stefan seemed to be all about timing — she needed him to feel safe and loved after her parents died, and because he was a vampire, he couldn’t die on her like they did. Makes sense. Timing. Damon, however, simply snuck up on her and got under her skin. Which one sounds more like true love to you?
This and that:
I think Sage will kind of be a big deal. They’ve been promoting her a lot. And tonight was just a set-up for her crazy.
I suspect a complete cat fight between Sage & Rebekah.
Loved the Aleric twist. And loved even more how they made it plausible.
Elena and Matt are not going to happen again. He’s just her only human friend. I kind of want Matt to interact with Sage. I think a fiery vampire would do him some good. Or at least be really interesting to watch. So on team Elena & Damon. Dalena?
they need a love interest for matt, seriously. i feel bad for the guy. (maybe rebekah) next caroline and klaus, whatttttttt? totally freaking awesome. more so than caroline and tyler, believe me. also stefen needs to die cuz his whole bipolar attitude is pissing me off. damon and the chickmunk quote = lotsoflaughs. alaric is a crazy phycopath killer? oh, hecky naw! cant wait 4 next episode
also secret circle sucks. loved the books hate the show
