In a week filled with cartoons, there are three live-action shows that lead the way. Those are Weeds, Nurse Jackie, and Borgia. That is Borgia, the French/German series created by Tom Fontana (Oz, Homicide). Not to be confused with The Borgias, the Showtime series which you might expect to be released along with Weeds and Nurse Jackie. Your other solid live-action option is The Fades, which does have an interesting take on ghosts.
Turning to the laundry list of cartoons, the one that stands out to me is Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century. In a nutshell, Inspector Beth Lestrade (descended from the OG Lestrade) has a rogue geneticist use cellular rejuvenation on Holmes’ corpse so he can help her combat Professor Moriarty (a clone). Holmes is assisted by Lestrade’s droid, Watson, who reads all of the original journals by the real Watson and takes on his personality. Fun! Right? Good enough to make it my pick of the week. One thing to note about the cartoons. You’ll want to just opt for the complete series sets of Holmes, Gadget Boy, Archie, and Carmen Sandiego. They’re only a buck and a half more. I’m not sure what the point of the partial sets even is.
