The Super Bowl’s exquisite half time show got me thinking about Madonna — how I have adored her since high school (with the exception of that “American Pie” misstep), how she’s such a smart self-promoter / image creator, how that photo above is definitely not her (sorry, Jane). …
It also got me reminiscing about Glee‘s season one episode, “The Power of Madonna.” I’ll admit I’m no longer a Glee watcher, but I Gleeked out a bit during season one (pretty pathetic that my son’s first experience hearing “Don’t Stop Believin'” was not the Journey version), and one of the highlights for me was seeing one of my favorite star’s music woven throughout an episode, like a mini-musical. The success of that episode kicked off a string of other themed episodes, from a Britney Spears episode to the most recent Michael Jackson episode, with a Fleetwood Mac and West Side Story thrown in there … and who can forget the “Rocky Horror Glee Show“?
Some episodes worked better than others, I’m sure, but I like the fact that they mixed up the themed episodes to try to please all of the fans. From musicals to artists spanning from the 1970s and onward, there really was a little bit of something for everyone.
It’s no surprise that I’m voting for the Madonna episode … which one will you be voting for?
This poll will expire on February 14 at 11:59 p.m. you may vote once a day — have fun!
Out of the choices you have there I had to choose the britney episode. However, my favorite themed episode was the first christmas special. But alas that was not a choice.

I didn’t count the Christmas episodes as themed, because they just sang seasonal songs, right? If they did all the songs from a certain artist, or from a certain holiday musical, then I think they would qualify. Am I missing something?
I totally get why they are not included in the poll. Probably most would not consider them “theme” episode, but in my wierd head I do. However, they are probably better described as “specials”.
