It’s Daniel’s birthday and it definitely didn’t go as planned. Or, did it? Emily seemed to have the inside track on how Tyler was going to react, otherwise, why would she have unloaded the gun?
Tyler finally lost it. And, Emily used his breakdown to her full advantage. Frank’s death is no longer a concern as Tyler was the perfect scapegoat. Also, who is going to believe him now about anything? Even if he tried to out Conrad for the plane crash or Lydia’s accident, his claims would seem like the ramblings of a crazy man.
I was never a Tyler fan; he annoyed me immensely. But … I think I might miss him when he is gone. Oh, right, he is sure to be back and back soon! He has to be on the beach at the Labor Day party during Emily and Daniel’s engagement party … to get shot.
What?!? Yes, I still believe that Tyler is the one that gets shot on the beach. And, “Duress” convinced me even more. During the fight between Daniel and Tyler, it was filmed such that they looked about the same size. In the dark, they easily could be mistaken for each other.
Back in my “Guilt” review, I suggested that it was Tyler that was shot on the beach. Why? Because Tyler borrowed one of Daniel’s suits and mentioned how they were the same size. Daniel is from a rich family; there is no way he is wearing an off-the-rack suit. His clothes are surely made to fit and fit perfectly.
I went back and watched the beach scene again and took a screen shot. Since it was from the pilot it is possible that it was an extra and not an actor currently on the show that filmed the scene, but the main clue to it being Tyler is there.
Take a look at the hair. It is curly in the back. Look at the main picture from “Duress” up top … who has the curly hair in the back — Tyler! Of course, this is just speculation on my part, but the hair stands out even more in the video clip.
I enjoyed the episode and the way it all worked out with Tyler getting arrested, but I kept thinking about the beach scene. What do you think? If you had to pick, is it Daniel, Tyler or someone else that gets shot on the beach?

I’m not a Tyler fan either and I’m very glad he’s gone. The only way I’ll welcome him back is if he’s a murder victim … here’s hoping!
Tyler by default. I simply don’t see Daniel dying this soon unless the show only gets one season, and I believe it’s doing too well for ABC for that. Without Daniel, the Graysons would simply cut Emily out of their lives, and her long-term strategy would have failed.
They certainly played up Tyler’s resemblance to Daniel, as well as his propensity for nicking his best friend’s suits and cell phone. Emily even confused him for her boyfriend from behind in one episode. Of course, that doesn’t prevent the shooting victim from being another one of Frank’s goons with a similar build and hairstyle.
