Do not adjust your browsers! Yes, this is the weekly TV on DVD post. And no, it’s not Tuesday. We’ve decided to make a change to the schedule. Last week, my pal Chuck pointed out that the DVD post was going up on the day of release. The problem being that if you ordered from the DVD post, you would miss out on the excitement of getting your sets in your mitts on release day. So… the post will now show up every Friday, giving you time to set a fancy pre-order scenario in motion. Yay! I think.
As for the releases… It is a bit of a slow week, headed up by the latest set from 30 Rock and a double-shot from Smallville. You can grab the final season. Or, if you’ve been living under one of those Geico rocks, you can pick up the whole 62 disc complete series collection. While both of those shows are great choices, my pick of the week is going to be Showtime’s Look. That’s partly because I haven’t seen a bit of it (I traded HBO and Showtime for membership at the lovely Annex Theatre.) But also because the numbers in the show’s description have me quite boggled, and more than a little curious.
“The post 9/11 world has forever changed the notion of privacy. There are now approximately 40 million surveillance cameras in the United States generating more than 4 billion hours of footage every week. And the numbers are growing. The average American is now captured over 200 times a day, in department stores, gas stations, changing rooms, even public bathrooms. No one is spared from the relentless, unblinking eye of the cameras that are hidden in every nook and cranny of day-to-day life.”
A) 4 billion hours?
And B) Public bathrooms?!
