Sons of Anarchy – You’re gonna die

It's yet another tense and shocking episode leading up to the finale. I'm having a harder and harder time figuring out exactly what's going to be left of SAMCRO when the dust clears.

- Season 4, Episode 12 - "Burnt and Purged Away"

So… that was pretty intense, right? Can I just say that my favorite moment of the entire episode came at the very end, when Opie was holding the gun on Clay. I can’t imagine that there are too many people watching Sons of Anarchy who are on Clay’s side, but man. The show really went the extra mile when Opie yelled at Clay about killing Donna, and Clay replied with something along the line of, “That’s history, man.” SERIOUSLY? Holy shit, dude. Ron Perlman‘s delivery of that was so brilliant. I 100% believed that Clay couldn’t understand why Opie insisted on bringing up the old, irrelevant bullshit that is his innocent wife’s murder at the hands of the club.  That was nuts.

It was even more nuts than Jax bursting into the clubhouse and not only trying to save Clay, but legitimately threatening Opie. When he said, “don’t make me kill you,” my jaw dropped. It didn’t surprise me that Jax came in and made a show of trying to save Clay, but when he threatened Opie, he sounded a lot more serious than I ever would have believed him to be.

I was also about thirty seconds away from rooting against Opie too. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the guy (seriously. There’s something about a giant dude with a giant beard who wears his hair in a bun that’s super hot), but he was driving me crazy with his “every bad guy in every movie, ever” move of talking to Clay long enough for him to get away instead of just killing him when he had the chance. Because we’ve seen that in so many movies, it made the fact that he actually shot Clay that much more shocking.

I can’t wait to see what happens next week, because I’m pretty sure Jax and I had the same face as we saw Clay get shot. I feel good about Opie’s future though, as Jax seemed to hesitate just enough to where I don’t think he can legitimately shoot Opie and not have it be retaliatory murder. I suspect next week’s episode is going to open up with Jax and Opie scrambling to save Clay’s life. As much as I’m fine with Clay being killed, there’s something about the way he was shot that makes me believe he still has a little life left in him.

But if Clay survives, what does he really have left? Jax is trying to get out, Bobby is in a holding cell after Otto gave the club up, Juice is in a holding cell after he gave the IRA up. Soon SAMCRO is going to be without members and customers. Even Tig is showing more interest in random threesomes than he is in protecting the club. SAMCRO seems to be coming to an end, but knowing that Kurt Sutter has three more seasons planned, I can’t wait to see how he tries to pick up the pieces.

I loved the ending,I don’t think Clay is dead though just badly wounded. I mean, if I were him I would always be wearing full body armor..why wouldn’t he have a vest on? But what really made my jaw drop was when Gemma and Clay met in the hospital hallway..her touching his face and saying ‘I love you Clay’along with his WTF? look on his face. I think she wants money in her hands before any of the Sons kill him, then she will make sure he dies.

Agreed. That moment was amazing. Very Godfather.

Ya, that WTF face he made was almost the exact face i was making at the time. Gemma works in strange ways, I don’t know what she was doing, or if she actually still loves him.

if this really is based on Hamlet, then it’s going to be someone like Opie left standing at the end, not Jax or Clay. I can see at least one more season of Jax trying to make the club what his father envisioned once Clay is out of the way and failing miserably simply because he isn’t a leader.
