Despite Sheldon declaring Amy as his girlfriend in paper form, this week’s episode felt a little lackluster. Normally, The Big Bang Theory is one big ongoing punch-line. However, outside of the comic book opening scene, nothing else seemed guffaw-worthy. Titter-worthy, yes. Guffaw, no.
All the same, Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) is the best addition to the BBT cast and continues to grow in awesomeness. In some ways I’m disappointed that Sheldon broke down his refusal to define their relationship. I liked their ambiguous asexuality, especially Amy’s. She has a better chance of picking up a woman than Howard does (Note: I love whenever Penny tries to set Bernadette wise).
However, if Sheldon continues to refuse Amy’s amorous desires, despite giving her the title, what happens next to our little Twister freak? Will she succeed in convincing the women to strip down with her? Is it odd that Sheldon’s definition of a girlfriend is basically his mother? Also, am I the only one who still can’t adjust to Jim Parsons‘ new hairstyle?
Quotes:
Amy [on new comic book day]: Sheldon, I’m disappointed. As a brilliant man, you’re entitled to your vice. I could understand frequenting an opium den or hunting your fellow man for sport. But, this?! Lame-o!
Sheldon: … You play the harp. Like that’s cool.
Stuart: Can I help you find anything?
Amy: A comic that doesn’t depict a woman whose bosom can’t be used as a flotation device.
Howard [on the 24.95 price for the Wild West and Witches card packs and their ilk]: It’s like a secret tax on guys who can’t get laid.
Howard: You interested in Amy?
Stuart: She didn’t look through me with soul sucking ball-shriveling hatred and contempt. I like that in a woman.
Stuart [shilling to the guys for all he’s worth]: I’m robbing you of the hours of fun you can have for the magical, rooting-tooting price of 24.95.
Raj: I’ll take one.
Howard: Make it two.
Leonard: I hate all of you and myself. Three.
Stuart: I’ll ring it up. It’s like shooting nerds in a barrel.
Leonard: Hey, can I talk to you about something … it’s a little awkward.
Sheldon: I know what this is about. Given the professional standstill you’re at. You’re wondering if this is the appropriate time to abandon your research and focus on teaching … yes.
Sheldon’s Knock of the Week:
Sheldon [Knocking]
Penny: Who do we love?
Sheldon: Penny [Knocking].
Penny: Who do we love?
Sheldon: Penny [Knocking].
Penny: Who do we love?
Sheldon: Penny.
It was cute! For a Sheldon moment.
But yes, like you said, sort of lackluster. And the whole playing cards seemed to be there for the heck of showing those people on the screen and not really anything else.
I did love how Sheldon deleted his ‘friends’.
I cannot stand Sheldon’s new hair style! It doesn’t even fit his personality, nor would he spend the time, effort or money for the product it requires. Ewww
