It was hard not to make a Star Wars parallel between John Blackwell (Darth Vader), Cassie (Luke) and whomever is Cassie’s half-sibling (alas, I am a Star Wars nerd to the core). It sounds like Blackwell is about the most evil thing that we’ve seen so far on The Secret Circle. What does that tell us about Cassie’s mother Amelia? We’ve already heard some negative things about her from her non-witch high school friends; now we discover she was married to evil incarnate. Considering how “good” both Jane and Cassie seem to be, how do you explain Amelia’s love of John Blackwell?
It’s less of a surprise, though, that Blackwell had another “fan.” Considering what we have learned about Faye’s mother, it made sense when Jane let it slip that Dawn fancied him as well. That points to Faye being Cassie’s mystery sibling. Unless I’m forgetting anything, we don’t know enough about Melissa or Jake’s parents to let them factor into the guessing game. No, Dawn’s crush on Blackwell probably means that Faye is likely the other Circle member borne of a Blackwell that Isaac mentioned.
I half expected Jake to attempt to stay in Chance Harbor, mainly because I didn’t think that Isaac would be so welcoming of him back into the Witch Hunter fold. Not that the Circle was going to reward his help by wrapping their arms around him, but I thought he would at least give it a go. Now that he’s left, the Circle will really have to come to terms with what the loss of the Armstrong family will mean to their power.
It is interesting to watch the dynamic between Charles and Dawn change now that he has a crystal. Apparently she has always been domineering; manipulating Charles into killing Amelia, Nick and Henry. Wow, when you write it all out … he really has been a busy boy, hasn’t he? His guilt for all of these sins has turned out to be a powerful thing. That combined with shift in witchy-power makes for some interesting times between the two of them.
Does anyone else think that Diana is moving on just a little too fast? Sure, it’s just a dance at this point, but her and Adam were supposedly serious – life mates and all that trumped up love talk that defines high school relationships. But here she is, just an episode later, rekindling an old crush.
