Thank goodness the auditions are over on The X Factor, so that we may move on to the portions that Simon Cowell promised would be so much better than Idol. I must say, “boot camp” is interesting!
See, the final 162 acts were split up into groups and given a song to rehearse and perform in under five hours. Which is fascinating in itself, watching the contestants meet with the choreographer and other coaches, as well as trying to get to know each other and figure out who will sing what.
As I wrote that? Yes. There are similarities to The Show Which Shall Not Be Named right there. I heard you. OK. So, what of it? Yes, there was the same pressure and crying and forgetting of lyrics. And, as always, I wonder why on Earth the people who don’t get cut choose to go out and party that night. Um … the prize is five million dollars. Hello? Anybody in there? Knock knock?
The group performances were fairly fast and furious, but if you’ve been a fan of these type of shows for awhile like I have, you saw the standouts. And you saw the ones who shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
What I need? More crazy Pauler! Will I get that? Well, she’s proven she can’t hide forever. Methinks that when the judges get their picks, and move everyone into their “own house?” That’s when you and I will be digging on this show. The snark will fly, and we’ll be so happy …
Until then?
Yes, I have favorites.
Melanie, Caitlyn, a couple of amazing teenage girls and a Guy Who Should Wash His Hair. While I’m on the names of our possible future heroes? What is up with all the weird spellings of the under 30 crowd these days? They make it hard on a critic. Jazzlyn … Siameze … Chesi … ReinaCariDaniEllona!
Yeesh. I know. Tara is a strange name, too. But it’s at least “spellable.” Look, I’m old and need glasses. If their names are going to be so freaking difficult? At least show them on screen for longer than five seconds.
Huh? You said what? Criminy! I don’t have my hearing aid in.
But I want to hear who you like the best so far, so please comment! Really. Do it! It’s not like it’s going to show up on your permanent record or anything.
