The big release this week is season six of How I Met Your Mother, but that’s not what jumped out at me as I was looking over the list. Bust out those calculators and add up all those seasons of the CSIs. With the just begun seasons of OG, Miami, and NY, the franchise is now 30 seasons strong. Yowza. That’s over 600 episodes of crimetime they’ve put out in the universe.
Despite the lure of Horatio’s glasses, I didn’t go with a CSI for the pick of the week. There were just too many other choices. So many that I’ve given up trying to decide and will go with two picks of the week. First up is Carlos. That is a new transfer of the epic miniseries that chronicles the life of Ilich Ramírez Sanchez. You may know him better as Carlos the Jackal. Even better, this is a Criterion set.
If international terrorist biopics are not really in your wheelhouse, perhaps I can tempt you with Canadian used car salesmen? Jason Priestly headed back to his homeland to take part in what one might call a dysfunctional family sit-com. He’s a hard living used car salesman with more vices than anyone needs. But things take a turn when circumstances force him to become business partners with his conscience, Larry.
