Entourage – Out of the mouth of Bobby Flay: Melissa!

His look of disbelief was infinitely greater than ours … what we saw was Jeremy Piven -- from behind the mask of his character -- thinking, "Really? Eight seasons in and this guy gets to do the big Mrs. Ari name reveal?!?!"

Melissa Gold … nope, doesn’t fit. I’m not sure if that’s because she doesn’t seem like a “Melissa,” or because she hasn’t so much been lacking a first name as her name’s always been Mrs. Ari. I don’t think I can even imagine Ari saying the name Melissa. And it is kind of outrageous for Entourage to give the big reveal to a guest star … this is no Cosmo Kramer mystery, but still. Anyway, I’m glad we got the name before it was too late.

It’s hard to imagine how far Ari can get in settling his life with only two episodes left. And if Barbara fronts him the $11 million, he’ll never see the light of day again. Miller Gold could be the biggest agency in the known universe, but there’s still only so much a minority partnership stake in a business based on commissions can be worth. For his sake I hope he and Mrs. Ari (can’t do it!) can come to an amicable agreement.

I’m sad that Vince’s story is going to end with him chasing Sophia Lear (Alice Eve), whether he lands her or not. There’s nothing else to say about it … it’s just sad. And he and Mandy Moore were “like twelve?” Bogus.

I don’t know what’s going on with Eric, but he has a real jealousy issue when it comes to Sloan and actors in his height range (Seth Green, anybody?). Whether or not Sloan and Johnny Galecki are dating — isn’t she supposed to be in New York? — who cares? Certainly it doesn’t mean that he should seek Melinda Clarke out again, either by desire or to hurt Sloan. Eric’s is another story that’s in the sad zone.

Drama’s an idiot. I don’t care if Dice turns out to have been right … Drama is being totally unreasonable in his flagrant disregard for all that people — like Phil and Lloyd, and even Vince — have put on the line for him and his career. And how about Billy? He didn’t deserve to get screwed by Drama’s tendency toward succumbing to peer pressure. But I loved Billy’s daughter on the phone with Drama: “Daddy says we can’t afford maple syrup.”

Did anyone else notice that, while Dice got a call from Phil (so he says), Drama got a call from no one? Likeliest scenario: Drama’s out, and Dice is in with Jamie Kennedy. I’d believe it from a guy like Dice, and at this point Drama deserves it.

Turtle’s story is turning sad for an entirely different reason. I give him credit for wanting to do something with his life; I feel badly for him having to deal with two people (Sonny Marinelli and Elizabeth Regen) who are way too interested in star sightings — nice drive-by, David Spade! — and being pampered. And it seems like they know him, so why are they acting like that? I mean, ultimately they may be legitimately interested in opening a second restaurant in LA, but why treat anyone the way they’re treating Turtle?

And why in the world did he have to do this now? Turtle could have held on to his Avion stock for another year or two, cashed out when the value had been significantly enhanced by the new distribution contract, and not even had to worry about investors. It’s completely nonsensical for the writers to have done things this way.

And to think that Jerry Ferrara co-wrote this episode … I mean, congrats, but how about infusing Turtle with a modicum of sense?

So a couple of sentences went by before I yelled…Melissa!!! I felt bad that Ari didn’t get to tell us this bit of news..or actually I thought it would be fun if Dana or Lloyd was the one that said it. I always thought that Mrs. Ari was a “Jackie”, don’t ask me why.

Why don’t you like Melissa? It sounds a bit like “Mrs.”, so there you go! (-:

Also, Jeremy Piven rips my heart out with his acting. Always has on this show, back from around the second season, but it’s especially bad now with his marriage ending. Just brutal. But that’s one of the things I love about this show.

It’s not so much that I dislike Melissa as the name and the face/personality don’t feel as if they fit together. Like I said, I’m not sure if that’s because she’d be better as something else (Toni’s suggestion of “Jackie” above does seem to fit her more; thanks!) or if her name is Mrs. Ari.

The soon-to-be-ex Mrs. Ari looks more like a Stacey but it does make sense to have a common name like Melissa (or Stacey or Jackie). I replayed the name after the first time I heard it.

Rob Morrow feels too famous to be playing a character rather than himself. Sure, he’s not a household name, but neither is Johnny Galecki, who people know from Rosanne and Big Bang Theory. (Was his appearance the reason – or among the reasons – that they titled this episode “The Big Bang”?)
Maybe the difference is that Morrow isn’t currently on a TV show.

Agree about Drama (who has always been an idiot and lives up to his nickname) and Turtle’s story.
