While Covert Affairs is primarily the journey of new CIA recruit, Annie Walker, there is much love from fans for her partner and friend, the blind Auggie Anderson (Chris Gorham). In this week’s “Half a World Away,” the episode focuses on Auggie and delves into his past, specifically how he became blind.
I had the opportunity to see an early cut of the episode and it doesn’t disappoint. Don’t worry, I won’t give too much away. It’s such an amazing journey to see Auggie in the present still dealing with his past. We also get a glimpse of who Auggie was before he lost his eyesight. The episode starts with Auggie going on vacation to Istanbul to attend a music festival, but soon turns into a personal quest to deal with his past.
Annie and Auggie’s usual roles are reversed when he calls her for help when he takes the situation into his own hands. Throughout the episode, he recalls his time in Special Forces and in particular the mission that occurred years before that caused him to lose his eyesight. Auggie is assisted overseas by a flight attendant played by the beautiful Rebecca Mader.
The episode is visually appealing with scenes filmed on location in Istanbul the beginning of July. For a preview of the locations, you can check out pictures Chris Gorham took while in Istanbul.
While the episode is about Auggie’s past and present, it will alter the future of his and Annie’s relationship.
“Half a World Away” airs Tuesday, July 19th at 10 pm ET/ 9 pm CT. You won’t want to miss it!
