Diary of an Entourage Virgin – Mansions and Maseratis

Should I feel bad that I could never afford to live in the million-dollar "fixer-upper" that Vince and his buddies rejected? Nah.

“They don’t have Beefsteak Charlie’s here, do they?” — Turtle

Here’s something I don’t really get about Vince: He keeps saying things like “I came from nothing,” yet he wants to buy Marlon Brando’s old house for four million dollars. Is he dumb? Reckless? Or just confident?

I’ve slowed down my Entourage watching this week, and have only seen the first three episodes of Season 2 so far: “The Boys Are Back In Town”; “My Maserati Does 185″; and “Aquamansion.”

I find it funny how E was still hooked on ex-girlfriend Kristen, played by the coy and slightly annoying Monica Keena. (By the way, I recognized her almost instantly from Dawson’s Creek – a fact about which I should really be embarrassed — but also found out from IMDb that she was also in Grey’s Anatomy, where she played that patient who was literally attached to another patient by a pole that had pierced them both all the way through. Remember?) I’m glad they broke up, although I wish E didn’t cheat on her beforehand so that he wouldn’t have looked like he was also wrong.

Turtle is growing on me. Not that I didn’t enjoy him in Season 1, but he’s just making me laugh more. The fact that he wanted to get expensive pajamas for the pajama party at the Playboy Mansion, and stood outside the Apple store selling a $2000 credit for $1200 to buy them, cracked me up.

I’m still trying to get a “feel” for Johnny Drama’s character. To me, he seems like a genuinely nice guy who’s sort of a dummy, and inadvertently keeps screwing himself over. He’s not a cut-up like Turtle, but he’s still kind of a goof. All he really wants is to get a good part, but he keeps getting in his own way. (Case in point: the headshot of him when he was 24! Amazing!)

But back to Vince. He seems to be stuck in between wanting to be rich and famous, and needing people to know he’s just Vinny from the block. Perhaps this is a struggle all celebrities who came from humble beginnings go through. And, at the end of “Aquamansion,” right before Vince decides to do Aquaman, he admits that he doesn’t feel confident enough to be a superhero. I guess his admission of his lack of self-esteem makes his character more endearing.

“MC Hammer could’ve used a guy like you, Turtle, back in the day.” — Ari
