I loved having Cougar Town back on Monday night. Between Penny Can and Truck Ghost, I was sufficiently entertained. There was a lot in this episode that made me smile as well. I know I’ll be using the term “pound grape.” I’m not really sure why I’ve never uttered those words before; they seem so right in every way.
As disappointed as I was not to get some character growth out of Laurie, it was so fitting and fun to watch the lack of character growth we got from her. I don’t know if her Walk of Awesome was funnier than her calling Andy “Dad” or vice versa, but funny it all was. And did you catch the coffee ordering shout-out from several episodes ago? Love it when they throw stuff like that in there.
There’s always a sweet moment, and in this episode it was Bobby and Travis being there for each other … while sleeping and driving, but still. Those golfers have no idea what a bonding moment between father and son they were party to.
I know I’m supposed to get all excited that we actually saw Stan (Ellie has a kid!), but to tell you the truth, I was way more psyched to see Wayne the wine bar guy back. He and his acoustics are awesome. In fact, I wasn’t thrilled to have Stan back at all, because of what his presence signified. I really don’t feel like watching Jules and Grayson fight about having kids and subsequently break up, but you just know we’re all going down that ugly path now, right?
Can’t we all just drink wine and get along?
I love how every time Jules knocked Grayson’s mimed bowl out of his hands, he always followed it down and looked sad. It killed me.
Hey, I’m translating subtitles for Cougar Town and I have no idea what the phrase “pound grape” means. Could someone please explain it to me? :)
Btw. The episodes were awesome! Penny can rocks :)

“Pound grape” is the catchphrase that Jules made up in this episode for “drinking wine.” Funny! :-)
Thank you very much! :)
I loved the “You have a kid!” line, it was such a fun way to poke fun at the fact that they only show the kid about once a season.
