You’ll have to forgive me as you read this. Really. You see, since I watched the episode, my mind has been lost thinking what sex would Sheldon Cooper would actually be like. I don’t really see “aloof and effective.” I can’t help but think it would be very analytical.
While I might have my secret crush on Jim Parsons, the idea of sex with Sheldon Cooper is the stuff of nightmares. It doesn’t help matters that as I write this that an almost elderly Iggy Pop is dancing around on American Idol with his shirt off. Hmm … Sheldon might be a better choice for a wild fling after all.
Guess what? I really enjoyed tonight’s episode. Last week I groused that the show kept separating the cast and stories by gender (albeit with a couple thrown in now and again). This week, it was more of an ensemble cast with everyone involved in the main storyline. True, it might have strayed some from the original smaller cast what with all the peripheral characters, but it made for a fun romp.
The main premise tonight hinged on gossip — how it grows — and perhaps the story even had a moral to it which we saw at the end. It all started with Penny telling Amy (in the strictest confidence) that Bernadette was thinking of breaking up with Howard. It spread like wildfire, even getting Mr. Non-Socially Orientated Sheldon Cooper in the mix.
Of course, Sheldon and Amy had to make an experiment out of it all. Amazingly, Amy is the only person who might draw Sheldon’s interests to the social sciences. So, working on the principle that a juicy gossip tidbit would spread while not-so-interesting gossip would die along the roadside (or something like that), they started the rumors that they had “coitus” and that Amy was starting an herb garden.
Well, duh. It would definitely be the sex gossip which would take hold! We’re humans. We know these things. Who gives a hoot about someone growing herbs unless they’re aphrodisiacs or illegal?
Meanwhile, we found out that Raj has secret hopes that Bernadette would play his clarinet. I thought that would be Wolowitz playing with his drumsticks, but I was wrong. Raj wants Howard and Bernadette to break up. But not so quick … Howard wants to propose to her. The surprise (and moral to the story that gossip is often wrong) is that she said “yes.”
Yet that didn’t stop the experiment. As Raj cried himself to sleep, Amy came up with new gossip tests — she’s pregnant and bought orthotics. Silly them. We know the pregnant story will be passed on.
Fun stuff:
A cute episode indeed. What do you think?
Oh. And yeah, I know Jim Parsons is gay. I don’t care. It’s not like my secret crush will hit the gossip circuit.

So, I really enjoyed this episode, what with the experiment and the gossips.
But I think Raj’s thing for Bernadette could’ve been a little less choppy.
