The way I see it, things look to be heading downhill fast. Real fast. We’re talkin’ over the side of the mountain, “nothing-you-can-do-about-it-at-this-point, might-as-well-watch-it-fall” fast.
Bill Cosby said it best: “Try and please everyone and you end up pleasing no one.” Ain’t that the truth. And that appears to be exactly what those boneheads over at the new Wonder Woman production seem to be doing.
Granted: It’s not a good sign when you get verbally lambasted by fans at the mere posting of a simple image. (Regardless of the fact the new heroine — Adrianne Palicki — looks like a Willy Wonka wrapped piece of candy with an extra thick coating of carnuba wax.)
But then, to scramble around as if you look like a chicken with your head cut off and offer the “updated update” (article here and image below), well … that’s not good. Not good at all.
And that’s precisely how it appears to everyone on this side of the computer screen … like the producers don’t know what the hell they’re doing.
One fan put it this way:
“Is it just me — or do the revised pants make her look fat!
Use the comics as a pattern. Stop with the Hollywood Elite Gay designer influence !!!!!”
Better yet, stop messing with an icon. Even the cartoon got it right (above image).
Can’t these new guys figure that out?
Gotta say, I do like that they’re trying to tweak the costume, given that they’re not going with the classic look. The newer images at least look a little better than the initial one.
The thing that bugged me is that even if you want to go away from the classic look, there was a template right in front of them in the more recent comics.
Either way, I’ll tune in to hopefully be surprised, but at the very least to watch a trainwreck.
I think the new costume is much better than the original. My only real complaint with the new one, is the top is too small. It looks painful.
Trust me … Once people see how bad the writing is, the costume will be the least of the complaints.
And I don’t think, CJ, that the new top is much smaller, just a matter of the actress actually being in action, and not in a posed (and color corrected) still.
I didn’t like the top in the original one either. But, that is my only real complaint with the new costume, otherwise, I’m ok with it.
The first one looks like a Katy Perry costume. The second one looks like a flashy rodeo outfit (well, the bottom half).

“Elmo 1st Guest Star On New Wonder Woman … !!!”
Dear Mike,
In my experience 98.965% of fans like the new costume much MUCH more than the old shiny one. So you are the only one I have met that doesn’t.
:-p
This really needed it’s own post here? lol

Dear Oreo:
Visit Twitter.
Oh yeah that’s a good palce to find very valuable 35 year old men who can’t get a woman to save their life. lol
Anything looks better than the first costume. It’s Wonder Woman, there is no way for her to have a costume that doesn’t look like a joke.
I just think both pants look so high-waisted, in a bad way… it makes her look out of proportion. I think if they had made the top longer, maybe the crotch length wouldn’t look so weird.
I think the difference between the cartoon suit and the tv suit is the cartoon version it looks more like a swim suit, the tv version looks like a corset with stretchy mom pants.
One thing to keep in mind is that the TV show outfit is based on the new redesigned costume in the comics. The top cartoon picture is the traditional outfit.
Here is a picture and article about the redesigned comic book outfit: https://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/07/04/woman-womans-new-costume-superhero-fail/
Doesn’t the new comic book costume actually like jeans, though? See, that looks good. That actually looks a little like what I think Wonder Woman would wear on Law and Order or something. The TV version just looks awkward and even cheap.
Good call on the high-waist. I think they just changed the pants and the boots. You have to think that the first image was photoshoped to the max so she looks skinnier. The pants looks like they are coming from an other version of the costume. They probably made multiple version and it was easier to take those than to remade some from scratch. If this goes to series I predict they changed the entire costume again..
You had to quote the homophobic complaint? It’s perfectly OK to include that in a story that has nothing to do with being anti-gay? No, it isn’t.
Probably a majority of clothing designers are gay. Ditto for interior designers, set designers, and probably most people whose career involves making things look good. That’s just how things are. Quoting some homophobic “fan” who sees “gay influence” as some kind of negative force makes YOU guilty of the same thing.
It went from looking like a slutty Halloween costume to looking like a more comfortable slutty Halloween costume.
The top looks like it is going to be responsible for some slips during action scenes on the set…
I’m calling it here: This is “The Bionic Woman” all over again.
Maybe they should just rename the show “Wonder Woman: DOA” because if this even makes it to broadcast it’s going to die miserably and embarrassingly. I like to support genre programming, but this is a severe exception…unfortunately.
go backto old costume from the 70;s show just use that one.this one looks like crap, there no she can run in that one and not hurt her self, it looks to stiff
Amen to the whole of the article. Spot on. Animated Diana was kick-ass and right in line with what fans like me expect after a lifetime of modeling myself after her. nigh 40 years experience in dressing like ww and absolutely horrified at what NBC is doing to her. Makes me want to do it myself…
