Well, we have the penultimate episode of No Ordinary Family in the bag, courtesy of Saturday night television. (An interesting place for an episode to be given it’s not the series’ regularly scheduled time slot. Thank some program called Dancing With The Stars for that …)
And, while a neat episode in its own right, I have problems with it. Well, a statement … then problems to address, how ’bout that?
The Statement: Don’t fornicate with time travel.
Now granted, in the grand scheme of things it appears the “necessary” time travel element in this episode was merely to save face of The Powell Family, assurance their powers wouldn’t get “discovered.” Else, all the hoopla in much of the episode would have come to bear, right? Right. But …
The Problems: Time travel. (What the … ???!?) Here … let me explain:
While Stephanie’s little hop back in time appeared to have successfully worked out for the family, why not use it to thwart Detective Cordero’s (Guillermo Díaz) assassination? Huh? (And don’t give me any of that “what-if-JJ-can’t-get-the-calculations-right” crap.)
Oh, wait. And! Since we’re playing with “what ifs” here, why not hippity-hop on back down the fast lane to do same for Daphne’s little dilemma with boyfriend Chris? Because now she’s in a world of emotional hurt having “pushed” him to the point his thoughts about and for her are gone, Daddy, gone. Returned are the ones that resided in his head previously, that she’s a weirdo. Ouch.
And is it just me or is anyone else having a problem with Jim and Stephanie (as parents) condoning Daph’s use of her powers to cover Chris’s possible revelation about the family to anyone he stumbles into if he wants? Just doesn’t seem right.
Regardless, I’m champing at the bit to see what transpires in the season (series?) finale April 5th.
Chime in and tell me if I’m out of my skull about what I said above.
this is a great show.abc better renew it.it fun to watch every week to see how they use there powers .
The show is dead, we already talked about this. The ratings when the show started were good and people ditched it really quickly, and kept ditching it, the ratings never leveled out.
Both Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz have been cast in new pilots, so that isn’t a positive sign for renewal. But, never know … it could happen.

I noted such in my 3/22 post and elsewhere, Carla …
Steph never went back in time, she only went forward. So she could not go back in time to ‘fix’ things.

Keith:
You’re absolutely correct. She did go forward in time, not backward.
Regardless, the argument could be made that since a successful trip into the future was accomplished, the same could be said in returning to the past.
Calculations are calculations, after all.
