Teresa’s family brings her trouble on The Chicago Code

For Teresa, it ain't nothing but a family thing. Will her brother in law be her undoing, or will she end up in the clear?

I can only imagine how frustrating it would be to fight corruption so publically, only to find that your own house, literally, isn’t in order. Will The Chicago Code’s Teresa Colvin be able to overcome her family throwing her under the proverbial bus? This is a question that will be hanging over her character the rest of the season. Liam finds himself in a similar pinch, waiting for the other shoe to drop, but his is lumped in with a double serving of guilt. And Caleb’s flirting has me predicting his entire story arc for the rest of the season.

The Superintendent found herself in about the worst situation imaginable. It was her brother-in-law (Played by Terriers alum Rockmond Dunbar) that made his bed and put his family into a whole world of trouble. The woman who is so dedicated to putting as big of a dent in Chicago corruption now finds herself next to it. Does anyone expect her brother in law to keep Teresa’s best interests at heart? This is a cloud that will be hanging over her head for a long time.

50 grand is a ton of money, but he and Teresa’s sister didn’t seem to be in any desperate need for money (Or else it would have been the first excuse he spit out … “the kid’s college fund” and stock losses isn’t desperate need). In today’s world, being out of work would be a great motivation, but as that didn’t seem to be the case, you’re left to wonder why. … Why take the risk without the need? Why try to play Teresa so obviously (the slow play would have worked a lot better there, buddy)? And why, knowing Teresa as they both should, not expect her to act exactly how she did?

Teresa isn’t the only one finding herself in a world of hurt. Liam’s efforts to get deeper into the Irish Mob resulted in a poor soul in a body bag. Whether the body planted there, or if he was just careless, this will haunt the undercover cop for the rest of his life. I can’t imagine life for an undercover cop is a easy (if you don’t believe me, check out The Departed), and I only have one problem with the story being told on The Chicago Code: I just can’t find a reason to care about Liam. The more we get to know him, the worse it gets. I’m sure I’ll have much more to say on this as the season progresses.

What I really did enjoy, though, was seeing Caleb Evers try — and fail — to woo nurse Natalie. As much as he puts off the “nice guy” vibe, you also don’t get the feeling the character is used to be rejected. There’s no doubt however, the minute she explained her hesitation, where this story is going. He will eventually win her over. She will become more comfortable with his being a cop. Then, he will get shot. Probably in the season finale, and his life will hang in the balance, maybe even as a cliffhanger. You heard it here first, folks.
