This is a tough subject to get into too much detail on, since coming right out and blurting spoilers for the future episodes — ones that were so graciously sent to the CliqueClack offices by NBC — wouldn’t be very prudent. The fact of the matter is, though, that after watching the next two hours of The Event, I really have no need to keep watching. What I and many others considered a primary mystery to the show is revealed, with very little in the way of shock and awe. It’s a piece of the puzzle that, as it turns out, wasn’t really missing at all! It turns out that we, the viewers, made a mystery out of nothing.
This is a strange tidbit of information revealed in these episodes, because it’s as if this isn’t something we should have been wondering about. So is it a spoiler to mention it outright? Without coming right out and saying what this is, I don’t think it will take much for frequent visitors to this site — or, heck, frequent viewers of the show in general — to figure out. That’s because one of the last things The Event had going for it was the few mysteries it had left to resolve, and now a big one is not only gone, but it turns out it wasn’t there in the first place.
I’m trying to wrap my head around not only why the writers decided to reveal this “mystery” this soon and in this manner, but why they didn’t decide to take the opportunity to take a unique approach. With all the fans buzzing on blogs, Twitter and Facebook, did the writers read these and think later, “Shit, these people are gonna be disappointed?” Was it revealed to us because of the backlash Lost took for taking too long to give us answers?
It’s unlikely I’ll be reviewing the episodes after they air next Monday, so I’d love it if you’d come back here and comment after you’ve watched it and let me know what you thought of the episode and “the reveal.” Are you at all disappointed, or is it exactly what you were hoping for? Is there enough left for you to stick around and watch it all play out? Even if you might not get them answered before the show is inevitably canceled?
They actually revealed a lot last night in the preview for next week’s episode during Chuck. They actually pretty much revealed the entire mystery. Fail NBC.
Yeah the ad during Chuck basically yelled “THEY ARE FROM EARTH AND WANT TO TAKE BACK OVER! THERE WE GAVE THE EVENT AWAY WILL YOU PLEASE WATCH US NOW?!” Eh no I won’t actually. I can just look here and hope someone comments on the twist. I only really watched out of curiosity that your “from the future” theory was right because that actually sounded like an interesting twist. But if you are bailing it probably means that theory has been solved or shot to hell in a poorly told way. Also The Chicago Code is on at the same time and I’d honestly rather DVR that for the simple reason that it doesn’t constantly make my eyes roll like The Event did.
I sure wanted them to be from the past, Fingerprints of the Gods style, zipping through worm holes.
How positively pedestrian this turned out to be.
Every time one of these posts pops up I’m so glad I stopped watching after the pilot :-D
Yeah the ad goes “They aren’t invading, they are talking back their planet”.
I mean really. That just confirms what most of us thought, that they are humans from the future (Or maybe even the far past), they ditched Earth, so the satellite was to tell everyone to come back now.

Hmm … Let me put it this way: I have not seen that promo, but from what I watched, it makes no sense.
That promo was confusing to me as well.
hahaha
Classic!

I mean the *promo* makes no sense based on what I saw from the actual episodes.
Oh…
There is a new promo that even more clearly says something like “They are not human, but they are taking back their planet”.
Really lame. I’ll be watching House and Chicago Code, but The Event is like a train wreck and I’m still curious to watch it.
Aliens! *spits on the ground*
But on a much more fascinating note – did anyone else notice the hideout house was the TSCC house? I miss TSCC!
I am utterly sick of this “Time Travel” notion, it’s too obvious and on the nose, And how do you deal with Paradoxes, Every Movie, Book, TV Show we have tells us it’s a pretty bad idea to go back in time and start a pandemic…Now yes, The Jury is still out when it comes to actual science and what would happen , but logically, It’s a pretty bad idea…Am I just wrong on this?
