First, I have to say that I adore Peter and Olivia. She may be damaged and reserved, but he is ultimately the one that will get her to open up. My heart swelled when Peter said, “I’ve seen what the two of us together looks like and it’s beautiful.” Still, Olivia fought her feelings and used Fauxlivia as an excuse to keep Peter at a distance. Once she opened up — wow — how great was it to see Peter and Olivia in the bar and hear her laugh? The wall was tumbling down until, of course, she saw Peter glow and it thickened that wall right back up — heartbreaking.
This case was perfect to bring out the emotions of the characters. I’m going to put this out there now, this episode set up something big that will happen in the future. Fringe has been full of surprises over the seasons, but events are foreshadowed whether discretely or outright. In this case, I’m guessing this is not the last time we see someone cross between universes due to emotional distress … a pregnant Fauxlivia, perhaps?
Enough about her though. This episode was all about Peter and our Olivia. When she showed up at Peter’s house it was slightly awkward, but how could you not smile. The wall came tumbling down.
“I want what you want.” – Olivia
“What do you think we should do about that?” – Peter
She moves in for a kiss. They share a long overdue passionate kiss. Then she stops and looks at Peter.
“Am I glowing?” – Peter
“No.” – Olivia
Olivia takes Peters hand and leads him upstairs.
Was a Peter-Olivia baby made? We know the two universes resemble each other, yet they are not exact mirrors. This was made clear tonight when we found out Mrs. Merchant had two daughters in the alternate universe, but was childless in ours. To be honest, I don’t really care if Olivia becomes pregnant at this point. I am ready for the ride. Unlike other shows, I’m glad that it only took a few episodes for Peter and Olivia to get together. It moved at an appropriately quick pace.
I watched tonight’s episode twice and haven’t not stopped smiling. Fringe is a brilliant show and so well-written and acted. I care about the characters, the universes — yes both of them — and look forward to the rest of this season and future seasons (fingers crossed!).
Walter had some of the best lines of the episode, here are a couple of my favorites:
“Like a flash mob of suicide.”
“Dear God. Is it second guess everything I do day? Because I haven’t been informed.”

Our Olivia can’t be pregnant. The guy from the bowling alley, forgot him name, said Peter would have to choose between the two universes. I’m pretty sure, right now he would choose ours, but once he finds out about the baby, it will be a tough choice. If there’s also a baby in this universe it would probably heavily tip the scales back in favour of our universe, not making it too hard of a choice.
I’m just waiting for Olivia’s wall to tragically return once everyone finds out about Peter and Fauxlivia’s baby. Even though Peter is originally from the other universe, he’s spent most of his life in ours and I’m thinking that maybe what breaches the barrier between both sides will be the baby itself. It is a product of the strong emotions between two people from different universes so it would be the embodiment of said feelings. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is born with the ability to travel between worlds, either. You never know with “Fringe.” The only thing you can be sure of is superb writing, acting and an hour you wish never had to end.
