Poll: Who is your favorite female crime fighter?

Join the CliqueClack team in picking your favorite female law enforcement officer on television. Is it a police officer, detective, deputy chief, marshall or perhaps a military investigator? So many strong females on television today!

With all the strong female crime fighters on our television screens these days, the CliqueClack team wanted to find out who is your favorite. In order to keep the list manageable, we limited the poll to include current television shows and law enforcement officers such as police officers and FBI agents. Spies were specifically excluded, but have not been forgotten. We will cover them in a future poll.

The CliqueClack team discussed a few of their favorites … who are yours? Vote and share your thoughts in the comments.

Jen: I can’t pick my favorite.

Ivey: If the choice were the most badass, my vote would easily be for Beckett (Beckett, Beckett, Beckett).  My favorite is a bit different…  Tough choice between In Plain Sight’s Mary Shannon (I mean, she eats at my favorite Irish Pub!), Juliet from Psych and the aforementioned Beckett.

Julia: I’d have to go with Kono. She surfs, she can go undercover as anything, she’s badass and can take down men twice her size, she’s played by Grace Park… I fail to see the downside.

Bob: Looking over the list I realized I don’t watch any of these shows…

Carissa: Brenda Leigh. She came to the big city and took a huge risk. Turns out she is afraid of nothing. She will look a suspect right in the face, basically nose to nose and tell him what he is going to do. Her tiny self with her deep southern accent makes suspects tremble and sweat. Then she backs away and turns on the charm and says “thank ewe.” Never a moment of hesitation, always looking out for her squad; in the streets, in the detective room, with her husband and her boss, she is a true badass. Second runner up is Deb Morgan because she is one hot mess of a (horny) woman and uses the word fucktard. Third is Jane Rizzoli. She’s a little new to reach the top spot, but give me another season and I can see her tough nature with a soft side (like the desire to be girlie with her friend Isles) making her a favorite. As long as she doesn’t lose her edge and the stories are tight.

Deb: For me, I’m torn between Deb Morgan and Kate Beckett. Originally, Juliet was in there too, but I think she’s too much of a secondary character to complete against the other two. In trying to decide between Beckett and Morgan, I thought about which one I would watch if there was no Castle or Dexter … and I blanked. Beckett wouldn’t be Beckett without Castle, and part of what makes Deb so great is her relationship with her brother. So I’ve stalemated on a two-way tie. And what Carissa said. Deb Morgan’s vulgar made-up potty words are awesome.

Rachel: My vote is for Brenda Leigh Johnson, mostly because of her obsession with sweets, but also because she’s smart and sassy.

My vote is for Ziva, because she is a trained assassin and mangles English idioms in a most entertaining way. “Redthroats”…”batnaps”… “needle in a needle stack”!

Mary Shannon gets my vote, even though In Plain Sight is out of sight, out of mind right now.

My vote goes to someone who isn’t on this list… US Marshall Annie Frost on Chase. Such a shame the show isn’t doing well, because she can truly kick ass.

Kate Beckett! Now that I’m really thinking about this question, I think she is not just my favorite female crime fighter but my favorite character period. She’s just awesome in every way!

Deb, “fucktard” isn’t a madeup word! I use it all the time! :D

Toughest poll ever! It has to be a twelve-way tie for number one. They all bring a lot to their respective shows. (I don’t watch L&O)

But, if I can only choose one… I love tall, strong women so based on that I went with Jane Rizzoli by a hair over Kensi Blye.

Tough poll. Torn between Ziva David, Kate Beckett, Olivia Dunham and Brenda Leigh Johnson. All characters are expert sleuths. Portrayed by wonderful actresses. Decisions, decisions…

I’d love to be able to pick second and third, and Lisbon and Brenda Lee would get those. Love both of them.
I still think Dana Delaney should have gotten a spin-off from Castle instead of whatever morgue thing she’s doing…..she was great in that arc.

I think of Brenda Leigh as a detective rather than a crime fighter. She leaves the super hero stuff to her boys.

Tough choice between Beckett and Ziva David, but I ended up picking Beckett because she gets to be the hero while Ziva is always going to be a sidekick to Gibbs.

Honorable mention to Kono. Poor Grace Park, her Special Agent Liz Carver on The Border totally kicked ass while Kono is the baby of the Hawaii 5-0 team.

Teresa Lisbon hands down! Most interesting and complex tv crime character. I love the realness of her.
Plus Robin Tunney rocks.
