The Vs are here to breed with humans. That had been fairly well hinted at in the first season and last week; even that Lisa was the key was not a surprise. But, will Lisa acquiesce to her mother’s wishes? I look forward to the reunion of Lisa and her grandmother, as they seem to have more in common than either has with Anna. Perhaps the Vs getting human emotions and a soul will allow them to c0-exist with humans.
But, for now, humans and Vs are not on the same side and have moles within each other’s camp. Tonight, that focus came from Agent Malik (Rekha Sharma) as the secret V within the FBI. I never cared for this character or the performance by Sharma. At first, I thought it was because she was basically playing Tory, her Cylon character again, but tonight I realized it is much more. She is so flat; even the voice she used annoyed me. I will not be at all disappointed if Malik doesn’t survive the car crash or after.
If Malik does die, will that leave the V infiltrator to be Ryan? He struggled against Anna’s bliss, but was very close to giving in to escape the hurt of Valerie’s death and the separation from his daughter. It seems inevitable that he will give in to Anna, but I hope it doesn’t come at the expense of his human friends. I am rooting for Ryan to block out the bliss and embrace a soul.
The Fifth Column became much more than our small group of anti-V fighters with a worldwide suicide attack against the V. This caused friction between Erica, Father Jack and Hobbes. How extreme is acceptable to win the fight? I expect that this question will continue to be raised.
Overall, I thought this episode was all over the place and a little disappointing. I am hopeful this is a transitional episode that will lead to bigger and better things. But, with only eight episodes left this season, the story needs to move forward each week.
A couple of points: Malik does survive the car crash, as she was seen in the preview for next week being interrogated with Erica (I believe) saying, “Skin her,” probably for not cooperating. Ryan DID tell Anna he would do whatever she wanted at the end in order to help his daughter. He didn’t give in to the bliss, but he did give in to emotional blackmail (at least that’s the way it seems at the moment). I thought it was a good episode and, c’mon, Anna ate a big rat! What a great nod to the original series! And I still love Jane Badler! I hope Lisa gets her out of that dungeon soon!

I didn’t want to mention the teaser specifically in the post regarding Malik, that’s why I left it a little vague about dying in the crash or after. I doubt they will actually skin her, I am guessing that it was a threat to get her to talk and give Fifth Column information.
Ryan said he would do anything, but he hasn’t actually done it yet. So, I am still hopeful that he won’t give in or he will let the team help him infiltrate the V ship.
The rat scene, I wasn’t sure what to say. Agree, great nod to the original. I was a HUGE fan of the original. I’ve seen it quite a few times over the years. This rat scene … so much more disgusting.
Whoops, sorry, I didn’t realize that was a teaser. Man, I feel bad now.
Not a big deal. I just didn’t want to mention it in the post. I don’t think teasers are really spoilers, since most people see them and they are in the ads.
Well it wasn’t THAT disappointing. Except for the soul thingy. Come on. Soul? Really? What’s next? Trying to convince the aliens about the Christian Mystery of the Holy Trinity? Well, it seems that aliens can travel immeasurable distances in space but can not argue with what the lamest of human (academical) scientist could easily do. But wait, maybe the impervious and unemotional calm of Buddhism can appeal the aliens better. And trying to invade Earth to bread with humans sounds as logic as the past English colonist trying to settle in Australia while breeding with Kangaroos. But hey, they have a plan.

Overall, the episode was okay. It’s not like I hated it or anything. A little let down after the premiere, but I expect we will get more next week (hopefully).
Yeah, the more I think about the soul thing, I hope it doesn’t end up being a major theme.
I think the problem is that the “Vs” can no longer breed amongst themselves … they are essentially sterile (maybe just the males?) … so they planet hop looking for chicks to have babies with to perpetuate the species … from what Anna’s mom said … it sounds like Earth is too far from the next suitable civilization so they either win on earth or they are screwed
