Over the last few weeks, I have been watching Veronica Mars again from the beginning. I loved this show when it was originally on and I’m not sure why it has taken me this long to watch it again. The bad thing is that I have been addicted to the show — watching episode after episode — with my DVR piling up with new shows that I have ignored. But, even worse is my thoughts have revolved around the world of Neptune. One of the much discussed aspects of Veronica Mars is the relationships that she had throughout the three seasons, starting with Duncan to Logan back to Duncan back to Logan. And, Leo, Troy and Piz mixed in there along the way as well.
When I originally watched, I am pretty sure I was in the Duncan camp. But, during this re-watch of the series, I finally understood the Logan-Veronica fans. I think that watching the growth of Logan over the series allowed me to understand him better and see the connection between him and Veronica. But … do I ultimately think that Veronica and Logan belong together? Married with kids? No.
Logan called their romance “epic” when he was drunk at the alternaprom. Do I think it was epic? Perhaps. For a high school and college romance, the path that their relationship went through, the ups and downs, perhaps you could from a teenager perspective consider it epic. But, I don’t think it was a lasting relationship. When things got too hard, they split. When Logan was charged with murder and he sided with the 09ers and rebelled, Veronica left him. They found their way back together, but Veronica started to realize who Logan was and didn’t trust him. He couldn’t reassure her of his love and faithfulness and he left her to prevent being hurt more in the future. They got back together and then that lack of trust broke them up again.
Veronica couldn’t accept Logan for who he truly was. She didn’t trust him. And, that is why I don’t think they were meant for the married with kids life. I don’t think that Logan could ever remain faithful to Veronica. It just wasn’t in him to leave his troubled past behind to be the person that Veronica wanted and needed to be with forever. She was too suspicious, knew his flaws and that would have driven her crazy. And, even if he didn’t stray into his old habits, she would constantly be wondering, tracking him, which would drive him away. They loved each other, but I don’t think they could ever reconcile their different beliefs and lifestyle choices to a point they could actually be together peacefully and happily.
So, were any of Veronica’s boyfriends a potential long-term match for her? Out of all of them, I have to say, as boring as many of you think he was … Duncan and Veronica could have been a great couple — married with kids. I can envision Veronica with Duncan raising Meg’s baby.
But, if I had to chose who I would love to have seen her work it out with, for her to find a way to grow old with one of her teenage boyfriends, I have to go with Logan. Despite all I wrote against the two of them getting together, it would be amazing to see that they worked through their challenges and trust issues. To see Logan as a mature adult, one that Veronica could trust unwaveringly … that would be a sight I would love to see. And, perhaps someday the Veronica Mars movie will happen and my wish will come true.

I think it’s hard to imagine any of these characters as married with kids, seeing as they were just teens on the show. I don’t see Veronica ever raising Meg’s baby with Duncan, though. Duncan wanted old Veronica and that’s what attracted him to Meg. When they got back together in the second season, I don’t think he got or fully appreciated who Veronica now was. Certainly not in the way Logan did. Also Veronica couldn’t even return an “I love you” when she was presumably seeing Duncan for the last time ever. No way in hell would I want to see (or even can imagine) her with Duncan forever raising his coma baby/love child.
I have to vehemently disagree with the idea that Logan wouldn’t be able to remain faithful to Veronica. We never got any indication that he would ever cheat on her on the show. Sure he made quite a few mistakes with other women, but never when he was with Veronica when he did it and they always seemed to be fueled by heartbreak, mostly OVER Veronica.
They both had their issues, but Veronica would need to change and grow just as much as Logan for a real relationship to work, too. She had just as many issues as he did.

That is a good point about Logan and his being faithful to Veronica. I’d like to think, as I said at the end of my post, that he matured and they could make it work. But, they really weren’t together long enough at any one time to show that he could be faithful.
And, you are definitely right about Veronica’s issues as well.
I really really want to see a Veronica Mars movie. I want to know what happened to these characters that we all love so much!
OK. Logan never cheat veronica or lilly the only thing he do was kiss yolanda for a second. and help Kendall cheat her husband but that remains the same he didn´t cheat.
What a question ?! Come on Logan Echolls of course !
Yes their journey will never be easy, roller coasters and yes it is the flawed, somewhat tortured relationship but so passionate so yes it will never be easy but at the end of the day they will never get rid of each others..Yes Epic Logan and Veronica was, is and will be !
