Initially, I wanted to make this “the most awesome Veronica Mars character ever.” But, then I realized Papa Keith or Logan might take the win. And, I couldn’t really call it “the most awesome Veronica Mars character ever (who aren’t Keith or Logan).” After input from Ivey, I finally decided to focus on the most awesome Veronica Mars back up ever.
So,who is the most awesome Veronica mars sidekick? Is it the principal’s office’s mole, Wallace; computer hacker Mac; one time Keith Mars-assistant Weevil; sleazy investigator, Vinnie Van Lowe; the cop with too much heart, Leo; or the most awesome backup of all, Back Up?!
I put it to the gang, but let me know what you think in the comments.
Deb: That’s super-hard. They all have great moments, but I do think my favorite is Weevil. I especially like some of the interactions between Weevil and Logan, but the way he ends up protecting Veronica, and then as the series progresses, she does the same for him — it’s a nice give-and-take for two people who should never have been friends in the first place.
Julia: I have to always go with Wallace. She makes him spirit cookies! He knows she’s a marshmallow! Doesn’t get more classic best BFF ever than that.
An: Yikes! I left off the almost most important of all — Mr. Vinnie Van Lowe!
I agree — Weevil rocked with the biker heart of gold. But, between Mac’s mad hacker skills and Wallace’s faithful sidekick, I might lean towards the Wall-ster (pre-S2 girlfriend). However, I do wish the actor playing Weevil hadn’t gotten sick, so we could’ve had even more episodes of him playing back up to Keith’s Lone Ranger.
Keith: Wait wait wait … what about her dog, Backup?
An: You’re right. Backup was the most awesome dog, leagues ahead of justice-seeking duos such as Wonder Dog and Krypto. Consider him and his character bio added!
Carla: While I absolutely adored Wallace … I have to go with Weevil for sidekick. Wallace was the bestest BFF ever … but Weevil was the best VM sidekick.
Bob: Does her dad not count? He did save her from the flaming refrigerator of doom (which may have been my least favorite moment of the series).
An: While Papa Keith is the awesomest supreme, he’s less the side dish and more like the main entree. If I put him back in, I’d have to re-title the poll “most awesome VM characters (who aren’t Veronica or Logan)”?
Bob: No problem, I just had to bring him up.
An: Hey, how could you not mention him? He’s a cooler version of Professor X with hair….

As I am only 3 hours from finishing my re-watch of all 3 seasons, I may have change my vote. I forgot how great Veronica and Mac were together working on cases. It really is a toss up for me. Mac or Weevil. Oh no, more time I will spend analyzing this incredible show.
I am sticking with Wallace as the bestest BFF. He rates above a sidekick!

I love them all but Wallace will always be her BFF like Logan will always be her soulmate (i know corny but it is just the truth..lol) and of course Keith her daddy ! I miss you show, i miss you Veronica Mars.
Oh and while Wallace is her BFF i guess Weevil is her sidekick (love me some Elie Navarro..) anyway almost all the characters on this show were awesome and unique..
