Let’s get Greta out of the way first. Didn’t like her. Didn’t like the story. And, I’m glad she is gone. That was disappointing because I really do like Summer Glau. Good thing her new show, The Cape, is starting soon.
Chuck needs to get the intersect back and fast because everyone around him loses their pizazz in this episode. Sarah becomes the mother hen girlfriend that emasculates Chuck. Casey is lost without a mission and bored. As he said, “The team is DOA without the the intersect working.” The team is DOA, but also boring….
Chuck’s quest to regain the intersect lasted over a month and I am glad that it was covered in just one episode. I’m hopeful that Chuck will get the intersect, at least, in some form back in the next episode. I was surprised at the very end when it looked like the diamond mission was actually a real live mission. I thought it was a ruse to trick Chuck into giving into the fear and releasing the intersect in his mind. I’m still not 100% convinced, but it seems that Chuck really is being held hostage by a nefarious group.
Back to Sarah — her reaction to Chuck going into the field was sad to see. I thought that she had grown to accept Chuck as a spy, but I guess she never fully did. I’m interested in seeing how Chuck and Sarah move forward from this.
At least Casey got a mission at the end of the episode to try and find Chuck. But, there is no way Sarah is staying out of the way. That means that the team will be back together in their search for Chuck and we will get some action. And, hopefully Chuck and the intersect will return. Until next week!

I enjoyed this episode for one reason: SOMEONE finally said Chuck is not a real spy. I’ve been thinking that for some time now, because without the intersect not only is he boring, but he’s ineffective. Sarah and Casey have no “superpowers” and they are fully capable of handling any situation they are presented with…whether physical, mental or emotional. Even with the Intersect Chuck always lets his cards show (see thinly veiled look of surprise when SpyMommy crashed his meeting with Freddy Krueger a couple weeks ago) and loses focus on the mission at hand whenever an emotional component comes into play. Without it he’s even worse. Before he gained the 2.0 abilities he was bumbling and in need of rescue. Now that he’s lost it, again back to bumbling and in need of rescue.
Chuck’s confidence is tied to having the intersect abilities…without it, his legs turn to Jello and his confidence disintegrates. To me, that’s not a real spy. So while I do chide Sarah for when and where she decided to deliver it, I do not at all disagree with the message.
I liked it. Rob Riggle was great in his part. Summer Glau made some use out of the constantly swapping Greta role unlike some before her (I’m looking at you Olivia Munn). Also the lack of intersect brought back memories of the early seasons where Chuck was in way over his head and I sort of miss the good old days from seasons 1 and 2.
