The guys definitely took a backseat this week, story-wise. While Jeff, Troy and Pierce all had their own thing going on, the ladies (and Abed) tried hard to rid Greendale of former Disney bitches like Hilary Duff. But before we get to the brilliance of Abed trying and tremendously failing to create a “Bitch-Free Zone,” let’s talk about the guys.
The trampoline storyline was cute enough, although the site of Jeff Winger in Uggs was rather terrifying. I wasn’t truly in love with this storyline though, considering the brilliance that was happening over in the A-plot. I was especially bummed because Matt Walsh, playing the trampoline’s caretaker, was really desperately underused. But then Community hit me with the ending.
First, Matt Walsh’s declaration that “non-whites ruing everything” made my eyes bug out. But Troy’s, “What?” and his high-pitched, breathless, “Jonathan was racist. That came out of nowhere!” had me gasping, I was laughing so hard. I especially loved the ending, with Joshua showing them his giant swastika tattoo saying, “it’s going to be a maze.” The entire thing was just ridiculously funny.
Also amazing was Troy as a mean girl. I was hoping that Hilary Duff would have a little more going on in this episode, but in the end I’m glad she didn’t. If she did, then we wouldn’t have had enough time for Abed, or his epic takedown of her and her friends in the cafeteria. It was so epic, in fact, that I transcribed all of Abed’s lines at Megan’s table.
“Do you mind that your face makeup doesn’t match your neck? When I squint, you look like a circus clown”
“You’re right. We’ve never met– like your hair and dandruff shampoo.”
“Keep going about what? Her uneven bra padding? You look like you’re smuggling a lime and a coconut.”
“Good one. Tell that to the stitch in your ratty panties, or wear higher jeans on laundry day.”
“You’re bowlegged.”
Senor Chang had a nice assist with his milk-snarfing and freakishly flexible neck. I’m just sad that everyone had to learn a lesson at the end: I could watch Abed take down mean girls for HOURS.
Great episode!
Sight not site (The trampoline storyline was cute enough, although the site of Jeff Winger in Uggs was rather terrifying.)
Also amazing was Troy as a mean girl (Don’t you mean Abed?)
Did anyone pick up on the little Troy and Abed credit sequence having a Strangers With Candy reference? Jerri Blank also had a pet turtle named Shelly! Coincidence?
