I’m really thinking I should start keeping a body count tally, especially in light of Julie Plec’s tweet contest tonight (the answer’s eight, by the way, and flashbacks count!) It never ceases to amaze me at how dispensable human life … and vampire life … and werewolf life is on The Vampire Diaries. How can I say I love it without sounding like a complete sicko?
Katherine’s threat to Damon was my favorite death tonight: “Paralyzed from the waist down … and dead. The moonstone, Stefan.” And goodbye, Kelly from The Office.
But I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Sarah’s untimely death. Last week, I loved that Katherine’s “plan B” was having Matt in her back pocket. Little did we know that there was a “plan C.” We knew Tyler was going to change no matter what, but I love how Katherine is so devious and she really covers most of her bases. Except doesn’t she know that a vampire should never trust a witch?
Which leads me to the fact that Bonnie became less of a bitch this week. I think meeting her relative did her some good and maybe know she’ll accept the fact that she really needs to help out the vamps with the hearts. Not all vampires are created equal and I think she finally started to get that this week. And maybe when she gets some from Jeremy, she’ll turn all puppy dogs and roses.
Back to Katherine for one last thought — she knew someone was going to go after Elena, but is it because the person mistook Elena for Katherine, or is there something deeper going on here? Katherine actually told the truth, and I have to wonder if it was only to save herself from being sealed into the tomb or if she legitimately feared for Elena since we know Katherine has been running from someone … or something. The thing I love about this show is that it won’t be long before we find out. Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse — are you taking notes?
This and that:
I was wondering how you could possibly not write an 8 page post on this episode. Just wow.
I admit, I’m forgetting something. What happened to Elena’s mother? Did Katherine kill her? Is Isobel dead?

Speaking of possibly not remembering things correctly, didn’t she beg Alaric to kill her, and he did? Or am I totally making that up? OK, I just did a search and I think I’m making it up. I think she’s still alive somewhere because I can’t find anything to the contrary.
I liked the Bonnie character because I felt V.D. needed someone that didn’t wholeheartedly support the vamps a la Elena\Caroline (even though I enjoy when she joins the scooby-2 gang). I’m up in the air about Elena’s new relative, just because I miss Jasmine Guy.
Side note: I totally enjoy how Jeremy continuously steps up to the plate. Did the actor pull a Taylor Lautner over the summer? It looks like he grew and gained musculature. Plus, the way he confidently comforts the women who previously comforted him is just hot. * swoons *
I too wanted that Elena blood to be more than just the witch work, but then I guess Catherine would have been hurt before and Elena would have had numerous bizarre injuries and that doesnt quite work.
Finally a show gets that when you have characters that are really “bad” they actualy have to kill people.
Good thing Bonnie did end up to be related to the new witch because I was thinking – um, do you have to be black to be a witch in Mystic Falls?

I thought the same thing about the African American witches, because wasn’t Gina Torres’ character a witch too last season? I think they may have explained it at some point, about how the lineage descended from Africa, or slaves or something … am I remembering this correctly?
