One Tree Hill comes to Life Unexpected

As far as crossovers go, 'One Tree Hill' didn't invade Portland with people and storylines that I didn't understand, which is a good thing. Instead, a concert that lead to under-aged drinking, fence jumping, and some mother/daughter yelling?

When One Tree Hill comes to town, they sure know how to throw a concert. I like it when one event can pull together the whole cast, from the kids to the kinda-adults, to the kinda-adult parents. In true Life Unexpected fashion, this concerted included fighting, kissing, yelling, screaming, and underage drinking. You’ve got to say one thing for our favorite dysfunctional family … they sure can lay blame on anyone.

Baze really needs to move on past Cate. Not for him, nor for Lux, or even the whole crazy family dynamic that they have. There is a much more important reason for him to grow up, and take that pretty boss of his out on a real date. What is that very important reason, you ask? Me. Every day that he pines after Cate more, I get more and more bored. His interactions with Emma tonight are definitely the direction he should be moving. However, the egg timer was set on their relationship before it even started. My official prediction: he moves on the moment that he finds out that Emma’s four year relationship with the unavailable man was with his father.

Cate is a metaphorical ball of self-destruction waiting to go off. Fortunately for everyone involved, the lying to Ryan didn’t go on nearly as long as it could have. Had they continued to … erm … “try,” and Ryan finding out after more time had passed, things would not turn out so well. It’s a pretty selfish move to keep that to herself, a trend that was obviously passed down to her daughter.

Yes, Lux sure pulled some crap with Tasha at the concert. She was the walking, talking personification of (inappropriately dressed) selfish. Despite Tash’s incredibly good news last week, Lux still has like, four times as much family as her friend. I’m not discounting the emotions that she’s feeling, but for crying out loud, know your audience.

Like I said last week, I am looking forward to Tasha’s (hopefully) more permanent status. While “stealing” Jones doesn’t necessarily affect her status as “not that bad of an influence,” it adds a more normal drama to Lux that we wouldn’t normally get to see with her around adults all of the time.

Let’s face it … I’ve already lost any man cred. Should I go ahead and give One Tree Hill a shot, considering I’m a North Carolina native?
I don’t care how much of a drunk Laverne is supposed to be, I doubt she’d have a drink at a concert with her 16 year old granddaughter.
