(For those of you playing with yourselves with me, so far I’m one for one! I picked Amy to be one of the hosts this season, so, so far, I’m +1!)
Cold Open: Christine O’Donnell — Wiig played a great O’Donnell, but maybe it went on a little too long without a whole lot of funny stuff. But, really, isn’t the oddities of what O’Donnell has done in the past funny in itself anyway?
Monologue: Amy Poehler — Some awesome cameos by Rachel Dratch, Justin Timberlake, Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey! Maybe everyone being here means we won’t see them as guest hosts sometime later this season (my guest-host fantasy pool hopes so). Those cameos alone made it more than a worthwhile monologue.
Bronx Beat — And the cameos continue! Maya Rudolph made her way back to do another Bronx Beat. Katy Perry made an awesome early entrance with the slit Elmo shirt, which I think everyone was hoping would make its way into this show somehow tonight.
Bosley — I guess the initial concept was a little funny to start, but then I felt like this was a rehash of something done before. Funniest part was the cuddling at the end, though to top it off the girl should have pulled a hair out of her mouth.
Maternity Matters — This one’s been done before, and I find it pretty funny. But it’s really tough to throw new material at it. It’s one of those they should shelve for a long while at this point, bring us something new.
Mosque at Ground Zero — This one went from funny, to really funny, and capped off with hilarious. I’m 0% political in any way shape or form, but I’m sorry, that RNC tag at the end was the icing on the cake.
Musical Guest: Katy Perry — I wonder if the real issue with Katy Perry being taken off Sesame Street was because she showed Elmo how California girls would melt his Popsicle.
Weekend Update — Did you really think we’d get through Weekend Update without a ‘Really!?!’ sketch? Really? Not with Poehler back around. Not only was she back for that sketch, she was back to read a few news items! Best moment: “Blockbuster Video on Thursday filed for bankruptcy protection. Well, Blockbuster, seems our eight year tug-of-war over Tango & Cash has reached its conclusion.” And then we have New York Gov. Patterson making a cameo, only to prove that Armisen does a bang up job in his parody of him!
The Lean Years — So true about Showtime and its women with secrets. The funniest part of this skit was no effort being put into hiding one of Poehler’s legs.
Boogerman Theme — Wow, this was just bad. I’m very afraid this will be the next movie to come out of SNL after MacGruber.
Tiny Hats — Here we go again with the throw away skits at the end of the show. Best part of this for me was “Advantage Trish!”
Actor II Actor — I believe this wins the shortest skit EVER award. Not even sure what to say except that I just realized Timberlake probably wishes he was hosting this episode so he could plug the Facebook movie he’s in.
The Unwatchables — Hey, a not-so-bad skit to cap off the night. What’s sad about this skit is that it’s probably true that there will be an Expendables sequel with some has-been action heroes nobody younger than me remembers.
Um….your second sentence is very. I really think that’s all that needs to be said.
I gave up SNL years ago, but wanted to see Katy in her Elmo shirt. :-D
…..
I here crickets …
Where?
And Keith I’m glad you ask – I play with myself all the time and that might be the reason why I’m always NOT +1

Funny, I hear the grammar police…..
Keith’s second sentence is very…what???
No, Keith, I think you here the grammar police!
Sorry, couldn’t resist. :-)
If Christine O’Donnell decides to google herself ands finds this she will not be happy about that second sentence. Then again googling yourself kinda sounds like something O’Donnell would consider cheating so maybe you’re safe.

It’s called posting at 1:30 am. :)
Also, I think she’d be more offended by Katy’s jerking off motion during California Gurls.
Oh boy this was the most fun I had all week. This episode has been better than anything SNL in the last five years. I loved everything Amy did, the cameos were unbelievably funny – Fallon and Fey weren’t over-used and Timberlake – when are you going to make another movie? – Patterson, da man, how he said New Jersey. Amy as Kim Jong Il at the end had me in stitches.
I don’t get why people can ever be offended by Katey Perry. She’s doing what Madonna has done for 30 years and what Marilyn Monroe did before her. It’s just good Pop music man, get over yourselves.
Best episode ever. I’m keeping it, even if it’s only to rip the Audio from it of Katey’s songs :-)
