“If this wolfman thing is true, I’ve seen enough movies to know it’s not good. It means Mason Lockwood is a real life Lon Cheney and that little Tyler punk may just very well be Lon Cheney Jr. Which means Bela Lugosi — meaning me — is totally screwed.” – Damon
Well Damon, it looks like it’s true. While I’m all for Tyler joining the supernatural story lines, I’m not convinced the werewolf-vampire thing needs to be done again. But then again … I have faith in Julie Plec, Kevin Williamson and their crack team of writers to make the age-old animosity between vampires and werewolves fresh again. They can do it, right?
I haven’t been disappointed yet. So far, they’ve managed to weave an intricate back story for the characters, one that keeps unfolding new layers and dark secrets. We might even find out that sweet little Elena has a dark side; she did use Damon tonight to find out what he knew about Katherine.
I mean, they could have screwed up Caroline as a vampire, and so far, I’m loving it. Stefan and Caroline delivered the fun moments in tonight’s episode. Upon finding out that human characteristics are amplified when one becomes a vampire, Caroline quips, “I might as well have stayed dead. My entire personality is killing me.” She’s flustered that Stefan wants her to eat bunnies, and she digs into Stefan, making fun of his “serious vampire look (which is pretty much the same as all of his looks),” and she refers to her vampire self as an “insecure neurotic control freak on crack.” Yep, Caroline as a vampire definitely works.
So I guess the moral of this post is that even though the werewolf-vampire pairing has been done to death, we’ve gotta have faith that The Vampire Diaries will give it a new twist.
This and that:
I don’t know how I feel about the addition of werewolves. They will have to work really hard to get me interested in them. Sorry, they are not sex on a stick like vamps.
Damon fighting for Elena’s friendship broke my heart. His eyes are so expressive. Something I never saw with Ian on Lost. IMHO he makes the show.
I don’t know her name right now, but I absolutely adore the nose of the actress who plays Caroline. Its not the normal, pert, ordinary nose of Hollywood actresses. Its freakin adorable. Please don’t ever succumb to the pressure of Hollywood to fit a mold, girl!
Thanks, Deb, because it was killing me trying to figure out who Isobel’s assistant was…she was so much better on VD than on Dexter. Kudos to her!
That headline made me chuckle. Fresh Vampires… sorry :-)
I love this show! Caroline rocks as a vampire & it sucked seeing her let what’s his face go like that.
I hate that everyone calls him Rick & not Alaric. Alaric just sounds so much more bad ass.
You may remember her from Dexter but Courtney for me will always be from Lie to Me where her & her Brandon Routh played lovers (they’re married in real life).
