Will The Vampire Diaries’ Caroline be a vampire?

There were so many squeeable moments in the premiere of 'The Vampire Diaries' that I nearly overlooked the obvious awesomeness of what Katherine really did to Caroline.

In all my squeeing over Jeremy’s nine lives, I completely overlooked the obvious from The Vampire Diaries‘ season two premiere. It’s a good thing we have smart and observant commenters here at CliqueClack.

It never occurred to me that Caroline was going to wind up a vampire. I knew she had Damon’s blood in her, but I was so busy thinking about Jeremy’s neck snapping, knowing that he had vampire blood in him, that I was assuming Caroline was just dead. Silly me.

Yes, The Vampire Diaries has a history of killing off beloved characters without so much as a twinge of regret. That’s cool. So I dismissed Caroline without much of a thought except to say to Keith, “Aw. I kind of liked Caroline. I’m a little sad that she’s dead. Her and Matt were so cute together.”

Right there — bam! That’s exactly why the Powers that Be are going to make her a vampire. That’s they way everyone feels about Caroline, and now things are going to get interesting. This is going to complicate matters between Caroline and Matt, to say the least, and Caroline’s mom just happens to want to eradicate Mystic Falls and all the world of anything that goes bump in the night. She’s going to be torn now, isn’t she?

Caroline becoming a vampire may be the single-most awesome thing to happen to her storyline, and should be a major force in the second season of The Vampire Diaries.

Was it completely obvious to you that Caroline will grow fangs, or are you still on the fence? Good move? Bad move?

I figured she’d be a vampire based upon the aside “Damon was here to see her earlier.” For as lousy as he treated her, as he has become the good, feeling (very Spike-like) vamp, I don’t think he wanted her harmed. So I figured he gave her some blood, which is why she was healing so incredibly fast.

Looks like we’re going to have a lot of vampires around!

Looking forward to her time as a vamp, hoprefully it lasts longer than some of our other unfortunate young vampires.

I wonder if she’ll remember all the things that Damon did while compelling her, and how she’ll feel about Elena and Bonnie keeping her out of the loop on all this.

You might want to reconsider that headline. It’s kind of early to be spoiling a cliffhanger like that.

Oh, and yeah Caroline is definitely going to wake up as a vamp. That’s what Katherine meant when she told Caroline to give the “game on” message to the Salvatore brothers when she wakes up.

Yes! I got a shout out in a post!

I’m curious too if Caroline will remember all the stuff that Damon made her forget. That’d get interested.

It was obvious to me because how else can she deliver Katherine’s message, “Game on,” to the Salvatore brothers if she’s dead? And I never thought Jeremy would become a vampire because Stefan said the sleeping pills pretty much negated the vampire blood. Good start to the season. I’m curious to know what’s up with the Lockwood curse!

I actually thought that her death *was* the message.

But, yeah, her becoming a vampire totally makes sense.

But knowing she had vampire blood in her, Katherine knew that turning someone who everyone cared about into something inhuman would send more of a message than just a murder. I can’t wait to see her get her vamp on!
