I think we may have seen the last of Alanis Morissette on Weeds. Aside from the fact that I read somewhere that her character Audra only appears in two episodes this season (last night was her second), her FBI deposition seemed to close her loop. Unless, of course, the Botwins are reborn and stupidly decide to return to town. Or if she’s pregnant with Andy’s baby. But aside from those possibilities….
My point, however, is that I think I’ll miss her. I didn’t like Audra when she was just Nancy’s doctor, but I saw a different side of her once Andy began to woo her. Standing outside her abortion clinic in a bulletproof vest for a smoke made her work on this show.
Something about the Newman family says hospitality industry (and scabs), although I was surprised that the hotel looked as nice as it did. Fun seeing Patrick Fischler again so soon after catching him on last week’s Dark Blue. Lost’s Phil was a creepy little man, but he was fun on the Blue, and he was enjoyable here as the manager of the hotel. I can see Andy and Nancy having a lot of fun at his expense, and not just because of his ice-dancing kid.
Nancy makes sense as a maid, but only because, what else could she do? But certainly she shouldn’t be tasked with cleaning up after others. And really, did the fat, naked guy handcuffed to the bed have to be covered in urine? Wasn’t it already bad enough? Although it was nice to finally have an answer to that age-old question: how did George Costanza get free from that hotel room on Seinfeld. Now we know.
Andy as a dishwasher is funny. I don’t know why, but his thing with the head chef was really enjoyable. Andy with any authority figure generally works. And it’s obviously going to be mined for a lot of good comedy, which I’m looking forward to. Something tells me chef likes the reefer.
I don’t know that anything has ever looked more perfect on Silas than that bellhop cap. Never in a million years would I have called the creepy old guy who likes young boys to read to him while they’re in their underwear, but it was awesome. By the way, a 300 page book at $50 per page is $15,000. If Silas can still look at himself in the mirror (a big “if”) he should read like the wind. Great, great story.
Even Shane with the stroller was funny, as disturbing as it is for him to be Stevie’s sitter with all the cursing he does (and, you know, the whole murderer thing). Michael Kostroff was great casting as the pathetic high-end stroller salesman. It’s crazy that The Wire’s Maury Levy only ever drops in, teases us, and then recedes into the night. Give the man a recurring role … he’s great!
It feels right that getting back to basics for Nancy involves selling hash. It wouldn’t make sense for her normal to be pre-her drug dealing, because that normal included Judah. It makes more sense for them to start from where they began post-Judah’s death. Never mind that dirty hash is a far cry from MILF weed, but they’ll get there.
Welcome back Doug! It sucks that he got away from Celia only to find himself under the control of another crazy, but I was glad to see him again. Can’t wait until he catches up with the old crew, although hopefully it won’t be with Cesar in tow.
that guy is on this weeks Lie to Me as well.
