“I know exactly who I’m messing with and I’ll pretend that means something for three more seconds.” – Michael Westen, badass (did you see what I did there with the “subtitle?)
There’s been some talk — yeah, you know who you are — that Burn Notice isn’t quite what it was in its first two seasons. It’s lost focus, the storyline’s gotten a bit convoluted and the formula is worn out. Who said that?!? Not me, because I carried the love throughout season three and the season four premiere was awesome.
What could be better than everything I love about Burn Notice being condensed into one ass-kicking episode?
They gave us some forward motion on the whole burn story arc this week too, with Michael’s new “partner,” Vaughn (Robert Wisdom, otherwise known as Uriel) and left us with a moral dilemma for our dear Michael. In the words of Sam: “Mike, you just burned a spy.”
What a clever new twist to freshen up the series. I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out and I don’t even think Burn Notice is lacking. You think Coby Bell‘s Jesse is going to keep Mike on his toes? Will Mike mentor him? Will Fiona sleep with him? It’ll be fun to find out….
Amen to that sister! Michael pouting? loved it.
Agreed with everything and love how they still show Michael to be human. He isn’t this posturing, I don’t give a damn about people badass. He only uses it when he has to.
I thought this was shown best when Michael was distressing about whether he would turn into Simon and do the dastardly things he has already done. And then his mom hugs him and says this is not how I raised my son.
This show had the potential to become so one dimensional but it really comes out with swinging with a lot of action, comedy and heart.
Look forward to more of Season 4.
It is just an excellent show. Again basic cable, especially, USA, also TNT and FX continue to be where it is at for the TV junkie like myself. I have to put in a good word too for Comedy Central–Stewart and Colbert are appointment viewing. I am less impressed with the premium channels; HBO/MAX, SHO/STARZ and ENCORE. I’m beginning to wonder if I am getting my money’s worth there.
