This felt like a very different episode of V. Since coming back from hiatus, the show has been extremely fast paced and action packed. This episode felt a little calmer, with more of a slant toward psychological warfare than fisticuffs. There was also a lot of positioning. It felt like all the pieces were being put in place for the climax of the season. The soldier eggs are about to hatch, Val’s about to have her hybrid baby, the Fifth Column was betrayed, and Erica dove into the thick of things. Next week’s finale promises to be exciting.
This episode focused a lot of its attention on Anna and Erica, and I was pretty pleased with the results. I’ve been a fan of Elizabeth Mitchell for a while now, and I really liked the scenes between her and Morena Baccarin. Erica is certainly a determined woman and I’m glad to see that she’s really jumping into the fray, fully willing to use Lisa to her advantage. It should be interesting to see if that comes of anything before the end of the season.
I was surprised to see Hobbs betray the Fifth Column. I’m not entirely convinced that he is going to hand over all the information to the Visitors, and I hope that he doesn’t. He seemed like he was on board with the uprising, but I guess you can’t really expect loyalty from a mercenary, can you? I’m eager to see what the real story here is, and if Hobbs does turn on his Fifth Column brethren, I think it will be fun watching Ryan beat the stuffing out of him.
The other part of the episode that I really enjoyed was the pathetic puppy dog Chad Decker, bouncing up and down trying to get Anna’s attention. She really has him tied around her finger. I thought that his shunning would perhaps drive him toward the Fifth Column, but instead it looks like he went into full placation mode, practically begging to get back into her good graces. What a weasel.
It certainly has seemed like a short season, and with a total of twelve episodes it is one. I really do hope we get some more V after this. Do the right things ABC. Or perhaps, based on the V ratings, I should encourage them to do the wrong thing and renew V. In any case — bring V back!

I really, really enjoyed this episode. I know the previous episodes were more “fast-paced,” but I felt like those episodes were cramming in so much story that each episode felt like a whole movie. In contrast, this “slow-paced” episode felt like it had just the right amount of story for 45 minutes, and it went by so fast for me. It’s kind of a contradiction, but it felt less rushed and at the same time went by more quickly. Does that make sense? It makes perfect sense in my head, but I don’t know if I’m conveying it coherently.
Is anyone else happy to see the lovely Paul McGillion (from Stargate Atlantis) here on V? I am, even though he’s playing a nerd.
I agree with you, Bob. I really hope ABC renews this show, because there seems to be so much more story to tell – how could they possibly wrap it up next week? But then again, they do manage to cram a ton of story into each episode (with perhaps the exception of this week).
The scenes between Erica and Anna were well acted and fun to watch.
This episode was written by the two former TSCC writers, John Wirth and Natalie Chaidez, so it should come as no surprise that there was no action in it. ;) Not as tight or as tense as it could have been, but everyone’s obviously still feeling out the show. I did note that they gave Elizabeth Mitchell a lot more to act with than I’ve ever seen her do before, so that’s a step in the right direction. It was the first time I’ve felt she was really in charge of everything, from the Fifth Column, to the FBI Task Force, to her family (including Lisa).
I hope that Hobbs isn’t stupid enough to think the V’s will let him live, or that human money will be worth anything, once they win. Note that the research he found is worthless on its own, but if they could recover the other scientists’ work from the V’s to add to it, the formula would be the brass ring. Hobbs could be trying to play Marcus to that end.

The show bounced back up to 2.3 in the demo for this episode, which is better than continuing to drop, as far as renewal chances go. On the other hand, the show is supposedly quite expensive, and it’s not on a crappy network like NBC.
Best show in a long time…got me completely hooked!
The chemistry between some of the characters is outstanding…they have to bring this back!
It is enough that the first V did not have a real ending :-(
