Supernatural, Community, The Office – In that order

On the nights I’m actually able to watch three or more TV shows (whether they’re new, recorded or via DVD), I post my own personal ranking of how each fared against the other. Some spoilers may follow.

Supernatural — Judging solely by the previews shown last week, this episode looked as though it was going to be a “throw away” (mind you, throw away episodes are almost never a bad thing on Supernatural). Boy, was I wrong. This episode was filled with storyline continuation and surprises, as well as what I like to think of as a shout-out to Neil Gaiman’s book “American Gods.”

Community — A brilliantly played out homage to Goodfellas. Once again we’re shown why this is one of the top two half-hour comedies on TV this season (the other being Modern Family).

The Office — I would have almost put The Vampire Diaries ahead of this one, but A) I didn’t get to pay much attention to Vampire Diaries at the time, and B) everything involving Kevin in this episode made me laugh out loud. One of the better episodes of the season, I say. Come on, Kevin as Cookie Monster? Awesome.

I don’t watch Community or the Office so I can’t really say, but Vampire Diaries was just shocking last night. Shocking in a good way. The show shocks me week after week, but I wasn’t sure if they would be willing to go the way they did with Stefan. Love the switching of roles between Stefan and Damon.

Thanks for reminding me of American Gods. I was watching, especially Kali, and wondering why she seemed so familiar. With the amazing episodes week after week, it really irks me that the Emmy assholes refuse to honor shows on CW, just as they did WB. Can their range really be so shallow?
