Don’t blink, or you just might miss this week’s list of TV on DVD releases. It’s a pretty short one. Fortunately, it’s a short one that brings with it a few gems. More Doctor Who sets have arrived, in the form of “Dalek War” and “Remembrance of the Daleks.” We’ll also travel back to the early ’60s to revisit the adventures of the gentleman gunfighter, Paladin, in Have Gun – Will Travel. Finally, my pick of the week, the Alice mini-series. It’s hard to go wrong with Matt Frewer, Tim Curry, and Kathy Bates. Even better though, Caterina Scorsone was perfect as Alice.
Having just seen the Burton 3D outing on the big screen, I think I still prefer the Syfy Alice, even considering the third act.

Interesting. I haven’t seen the Burton version yet, but that was my thought based on the trailer as well.
I should qualify that Wasikowska gave quite a good performance, as advertised, but I liked Scorsone’s brand of proactive, non-annoying ingénue even more. Both versions have excellent supporting casts, although I’m much more partial to Frewer, Curry, and Meaney.
I also saw Scorsone do a very memorable reading of a minor role in Gibson’s recent Edge of Darkness.
